This is what I get... used to get this error, then it stopped one day. but now i get it again...

Currently, the playback feature of Google Video isn't available in your country.

We hope to make this feature available more widely in the future, and we really appreciate your patience."

I was able to view the video, but it takes FOREVER (well over an hour) to download. You can't save it, and you can't watch it will it's downloadings, since it keeps starting and stopping. You just have to wait until it is done and then play the whole thing. That worked fine for me.

The video is a hoot. First Clarkson runs a 1:41 in a virtual NSX on the playstation game ("GT4"???) Laguna Seca track, and then he goes to California to drive a real NSX on the real Mazda Laguna Seca and doesn't come near that time. It's pretty funny and worth the wait. :D

And I can say I'm faster in my EVO than Clarkson is in an NSX at Laguna Seca. :2funny:

Same here.

And that was an awesome video. Thats my plan some day. Take my GT4 time and compare it to my real life time at Laguna Seca.. I just need some track days under my belt first so I dont total my car on the first lap. :2funny:

Checked into it - VERY EXPENSIVE... Laguna Seca is run by SCRAMP (Sports Car Racing Association of the Monterey Peninsula) and they have full course marshals, safety, etc. I can't remember how much the guy told me, but it was something like $10-12,000 for a track day. When the Porsche club guys ran there, each of them was paying $500 or so. I still think it'd be worth it.

Maybe Richard EVO can shine some more light since he's run there.

well if Socalevo and NorcalEvo members combined maybe we can get enough numbers to bring the $$$ required to $200 to $250.. it'll take a lot of planning though.. and support from sponsors etc.. Vendors could get involved as well.. make a day out of it.* O0

what do you guys think?

but one thing they have is sound. you can't have it at a certain db. if you do then they will kick u off the track..... less flow air less power.... and most people try to sell their stock exhaust when they install a new exhaust =)

It would be better to just get together and sign up for an existing date at Laguna Seca. I'll look into dates available, etc. Really fun track, but EXPENSIVE.

A NORCAL/SOCAL meet is a good idea, it will just cut down on track time. Someone made the point about dBs, that is true - the only exceptions I know of are for the professional races there and the Historic weekend. I am pretty sure that anyone with a CA street-legal (aka 95dB or less) exhaust should be fine.

It would be an awesome event - even if I didn't have a car to drive there, I'd probably fly out to check it out. Another thing to consider is the time of year - it can get really rainy and it can get really crowded (i.e. no hotels) if there is another function there. I usually reserve my hotel for the Historics about 6 months early.

The first time I ran Laguna Seca in my EVO, I had my full aftermarket exhaust/cats/downpipe/intake.* The sound limit was 92 dB and I was testing at 98.7 dB.* I got black flagged for sound once in the morning, and spent the rest of the day lopeing up the hill past the sound measuring station at half throttle in 5th gear to avoid another black flag.* If you get black flagged for sound 3 times, they throw you off the track for the rest of the day.* On the last run session of the day I said, "fuck it" and went balls out past the sound measuring station.* I got black flagged on the last lap of the day, but at that point, it didn't matter.* :2funny:

The second time I ran at Laguna, I bolted on the stock exhaust, and had no problems at all.* The relatively small hp loss was well worth avoiding the sound limit hassle.

There is no way you will get a track day at Laguna with a sound limit higher than 92 dB.* The few high sound limit days are reserved for major sanctioned races that provide the track with BIG BUCKS that an EVO day won't come anywhere close to.

All that said, it's a great track and I can't wait to go back, stock exhaust and all.* :D

Here are a couple of possibilites

http://www.trackmasters-racing.com/html/aboutevents2-3-06_lsir.html ($255 for one day, not both)

http://www.speedventures.net/1-20-2006_event.asp ($320 including transponder)

Don't for get the risk of rain in NorCal this time of year, which would really mess up the event.

Laguna Seca is going to be closed for about 60 days in the Spring for track improvements, so HPDE track days are very scarce this year.*

The only other dates in 2006 that I could find are:

January 30 with NorCal Racing Club -- http://www.ncracing.org/ls060130.html

March 25 & 26 with the NorCal Shelby Club -- http://www.norcal-saac.org/
