Well if you have been watching the news you may have heard about the fire going on in Santiago Canyon which isnt to far away from my house. So i was at school and i heard that the fire jumped over the 241 freeway which is closer to my house. So i go home to find out that they are Mandatory evacuating all the houses in our community because the wind is blowing the fire toward our house. We are all packed up and ready to go. So basically we are just waiting to see if the fire gets over the hill and if it does then we will have to leave.

I'm glad to hear you have enough time to prepare.

Good luck to you. I can see that fire from my living room. I thought a plane had crashed.

The OC register is commenting that they stopped the fire the few times it's jumped the 241. Tune into that orange county news channel. They usually cover these kinda things very very well.

That's the catch with living in those multi-million dollar houses up there. Gotta live with the yearly fire evacuations.* :2funny:

Oh and here's an update from OCRegister:

Firefighters hold flames at toll road

By noon, 1,200 acres had burned and more than 1,000 homes were evacuated as a wind-driven wildfire swept southwest from the county’s eastern edge.

ORANGE – Firefighters are holding a wind-driven mile-wide wildfire in check at the Eastern (241) Toll Road near the Windy Ridge Toll Plaza to keep it from approaching inhabited areas of Orange and Anaheim.

By noon, 1,200 acres had burned since the fire started in the Cleveland National Forest in Corona. Driven southwest by winds that gusted to 64 mph at times, the flames twice jumped the 241, but firefighters were able to extinguish the flames on the west side of the road before they got out of control.

“We are holding the fire at the 241 but none of the fire is under control,” said Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Stephen Miller.

There were no injuries and no property damage at noon, but evacuations were ordered or recommended of more than 1,000 homes.

No houses are going to burn down. The area is limited and the fire control in this area is top notch. Plus, like you said, fire insurance will cover it.

There were no injuries and no property damage at 3 p.m., but evacuations were ordered or recommended of more than 1,500 homes.

More than 300 firefighters and 68 fire engines responded to the fires, some sent to protect structures that would be in danger if the flames jumped the 241 and burned through about two miles of vegetation to the residential areas of Orange, Anaheim Hills and Orange Park Acres.

Firefighters holding at the 241 were reinforced this afternoon by strike teams from Santa Monica and Culver City.

A large number of the engines and firefighters stood guard on the 241, with water being sprayed on the flames whenever they approached the roadway.

The response also included two helicopters, one equipped to drop water on the flames and the other outfitted to drop fire retardant.

UPDATE: I went walking down the street and talked to the Fire Crew that was stationed there and they said the they are not enforcing the Mandatory evacuation but it is Volunteer evacuation because the wind changed direction it is now blowing away from us so our houses or safe unless the wind changes back

Damn, no driving Santiago or the toll road for awhile. Luckily I put in a good couple of hours up there Saturday. O0

Good luck with your house. I hope they take care of those fires quick.

Get the ashes off quick. They will f* up your paint if you let them sit too long.

A Spydy, you know you are welcome to stay @ my pad bro if you have no where else to go (which I know you probably do) I thought I let you know not to worry. I know what you feel because I lived in South central LA when the riots where going on and my family and I had to evactuate ASAP and stayed overnight @ a Redcross shelter. Stay up bro!
