520 horses, or about 1,000 camels

In the Cayenne Turbo S, Porsche increased the already potent Cayenne Turbo's 4.5-liter twin-turbo V8 horsepower and torque 16 and 15 percent, respectively — and yet it consumes no more fuel than its 450-hp brother in normal driving conditions. By enlarging and constructing the twin intercoolers entirely of aluminum, the engineers were able to promote higher efficiency and better flow conditions in the heat exchangers. The result is a reduction of turbo pressure loss by 50 percent. This more rigid system in turn allows the turbocharger pressure to be increased by 2.9 psi up to a maximum of 27.6 psi. :-o

is this on 91 oct :coolsmiley:

omfg bbq!
27.6psi... wonder how reliable this is...

I think that's the net boost for BOTH turbos. Also, I believe HP/TQ figures in the US are based on the lowest octane for that grade (ie 91 premium).

I take it those are turbos in parallel, each one feeding 4 cylinders? In that case it is outright deceiving to add up the pressures.

I don't say half the room is at 14 psia (which is true) and the other half is at 14 psia (also true) so the total pressure in the room is 28 psia (false).

why would edmunds.com print such rubbish!

28 lbs is possible, why not. it could have forged pistons stock, and its probably low compression.

measured on each turbo..lol. no.

No production car is putting out 28psi... sorry to break it to you. I am sticking by my opinion that the number is from psi absolute (the sum of both turbos output).

he did say "no" to "measured at each turbo" so in other words, exactly what you said.

If you're rich enough to buy a Porshe, do you really care about gas prices.

True, but you don't have to be rich to afford a Porsche. Rich is when you get into Enzos, CGTs, SLRs, Paganis, etc.

Porsches aint cheap but you can get a good deal - a used 996 turbo for $50k or so is a very affordable supercar for someone who doesn't mind second-hand.
