These three weekend events are coming up on various configurations of the track at Spring Mtn. Motorsports Ranch in Pahrump, NV:

March 25 & 26 -- original 2.2 mile road course with www.lappingdays.com -- this is a very relaxed group run by an instructor for other groups.* Lots of open track time.* 2 run groups in the morning and 3 hours of open track in the afternoon.* Cost is $425 for both days, I don't think they have transponders.

April 8 & 9 -- original 2.2 mile road course Sat.* MAYBE the new longer 3.1 or 3.8 mile road course on Sun., not sure yet (I will update this thread once I find out for sure) -- www.racerfactory.com -- excellent HPDE group.* Five 25-minute run sessions per day (3 run groups).* $325 for both days, plus $25/day for transponder.

April 22 & 23 -- new 3.8 mile road course both days with perennial favorite www.speedventures.net -- probably 4 run groups in the morning and 3 in the afternoon, with the opportunity to run extra sessions as traffic thins out in the afternoon -- probably lots of track time.* $300 for both days plus $20/both days for transponder.

I will probably go to at least one of these events (maybe more???).* If you haven't been to the track at Pahrump, it's great fun, and you get to stay at a hotel-casino, so you can drive all day and play craps and blackjack at night.* It makes for a great weekend.* Anyone else up for it?

there is also a 'Viper Days' event here at SMMP this weekend (march 18-19)... but they require skilled/experienced drivers.

the speedventures event sounds interesting. How far is pahrump from vegas?

Richard EVO
03-14-2006, 12:58 PM
Pahrump is 55 miles northwest of Las Vegas. You take I-15 to Baker, and then head due north on a deserted 2 lane highway for the last 80 miles.

Nils

SMMP is about 30-50 minutes from Vegas, depending on where you live.

I find it hard to believe that you could get to SMMP from anywhere in Vegas in 30 minutes without seriously risking your driver's license. The Nevada Hiway Patrol has unmarked cars all over that road.

ha ha... I have done it in 30minutes several times.... I literally live off highway 160 though, so I live alittle closer than you might think.

So what dates are you coming down for sure?

Lets get a roll call.. I want more evo's down here to play with.. come on guys .. come on down.. this is a GREAT track, so much fun. If it would help any of to decide, I can hook up you younger guys (21 plus) with v.i.p. access to nightclubs etc.

Which Spring Mtn. events I can attend depends on my work/travel schedule, which is up in the air right now. I a most interested in the April 22 & 23 Speed Ventures event because it is running the 3.8 mile track both days. Will have to wait and see about work schedule.

Nils -

It's looking pretty good for me to make it to the Lapping Days event on Mar. 25 & 26.* Weather is looking great, and it's getting less likely that I will have to travel for work that weekend, although I won't know for sure until about Wed. Mar. 22.

I know one of the Lapping Days organizers, Jeff Blonder.* He and his wife both drive E36 M3s, and I have seen them at Laguna Seca, Thunderhill, and Reno-Fernley, when we took the Next Level Driving School together, which was an awesome 2 days, during which 4 students and 1 instructor had the entire (old configuration) track to ourselves.

Anyway, if I make it to the event, I need you to give me a lesson in getting around the 2.2 mile course faster in my EVO.* After all, it's your home track.* O0

I will be there Mar. 25 & 26.* Will decide later about other dates.* I am much older than 21.* I'd be interested to know which "night clubs" he is talking about too.*

Nils
03-22-2006, 04:32 PM
I could probably get someone vip passes to pretty much any night club in las vegas... and no, I am not just going to hand them out to people... if you got an evo or something like it and come down for a track day I can arrange some late night fun for you.

sorry, have no vip hookups to the whore houses in pahrump, lol!

OK, I signed up with www.lappingdays.com and I am off to Spring Mtn. this weekend (Mar. 25 & 26, 2006).* I have seen the schedule and you can expect 7 (count 'em 7) 25-minute run sessions each day.* Plus I will twist the event organizer's arm to run in 2 groups if I have to.* I hope somebody here realizes what a great opportunity this is for BOKU track time, and joins us. Nils Mr. Fastest EVO in Nevada may show up on Sat. to give lessons on his home track (sorry Nils, but I am trying to get more EVOs to come out). I think it is no problem if you just show up with cash in hand and the registration forms on Sat. Mar. 25 at 7:00 am at the track.* :coolsmiley:

Ask for Jeff Blonder at the track and tell him Richard EVO sent you.* :mitsu:

Too bad dude. You should just sneak out for a few hours and hit the track. lol

I may not make the RacerFactory event, since I'm up at Pahrump this weekend and I'm going back April 22 & 23 for the SpeedVentures event on the 3.8 mile track. At this point, RacerFactory is running. 2.2 mile track both days, although they are trying to get the big track for Sunday -- no definite word yet.

Mister

Sweet! I haven't been to Pahrump since they added the extension. Lets see if I can get my car tuned in time for the event! Nils, maybe this time, if its possible, I can ride with you for a few laps. I never got a chance to last time.

The Lapping Days event on the 2.2 mile track at Spring Mtn. on Mar. 25 & 26 was incredible.* Saturday was 3 run groups in the morning and 2 groups in the afternoon, and I got 6 run sessions.* Would have had 7 if not for mechanical down time.

Sunday was even better.* Track opened at 8:30 with 2 run groups, and by 10:00 they decided to just make it open track all day since there weren't that many cars.* We ran until 4:15 (with one hour lunch break).* I really had fun even though we didn't run the longer new track.* My best lap time was 1:54.* I was passing almost everyone, Porsches, BMWs, Lotus', and I even passed a Radical.* Then the guy followed me for about 3 laps but he just couldn't catch up.* I'm not saying he was a good Radical driver, and there were two other Radicals that went flying past me, but it still was cool to watch a Radical keep getting smaller in my rearview mirror.

Jeff, the event organizer, showed me his racing line in his 440 hp supercharged E36 M3 (nice car) and I practiced it a lot.* It really worked.* Hope to get back out there soon.* O0

Nils -

Sorry you couldn't make it. The only street car that was faster than me was a black EVO from Utah with a Buschur 2.3 liter stroker and big (GT35?) turbo. That thing just goes like stink. I would have liked to have seen you challenge him.

A mechanical issue that is unlikely to be repaired by this Friday and will probably prevent me from attending the Racer Factor event, which is a shame because I had a blast on the 2.2 mile track a couple of weeks ago (see post above) and was looking forward to continuing to work on my lap times there. :'(

Hope to make it to the Speed Ventures event on the 3.8 mile track April 22 & 23. O0

The Speed Ventures event is filling up fast and may sell out. Not only that, but the Pahrump hotels are almost all sold out. If you want to go to the April 22 & 23 event on the new 3.8 mile track at Spring Mtn., I suggest you act fast. If you don't want to go, you don't know what fun is. :2funny:

if all pahrump hotels are sold out try the Silverton on Blue Diamond (hwy160) & I-15....

bring your game faces boys.... Nils is feeling snappy.. just busted a 1:49 lap at the 2.2 config.

Mister... sorry bud. Gotta prep car for Speed Ventures event for next weekend. You should just wait a week and come out for SV.. there will be more familiar faces there to play with :)

Richard - 1:54 is very good.. remember, SMMP is my home track :)

Ahh, too bad. I would go to the SV event, but my buddy paid for my track fee for this event, so I had no choice! Going to go pay Robi a visit before my next event..... ;)

:'( Unfortunately, I can't go to the SpeedVentures event April 22 & 23 because I have to work that weekend. There isn't much room left (except in beginner) so if you want to go you should sign up. The new longer track they are running all weekend is really great. :'(

I will have to content myself with the private track day at Buttonwillow tomorrow (4/19). Should get tons of track time at that one. It is highly unlikely I will make the SRT event at SOW this Friday (4/21).

I will be at LVMS in June. O0

Mister
04-21-2006, 10:10 AM
LVMS? The oval? Or do they have an infield?
I raced a full sized Indy car at LVMS last year, and all I remember was the huge oval.

I'll probably wait for the next SMMP event to come out....

Richard EVO
04-21-2006, 10:14 AM
LVMS has an "exterior" road course that is next door to the Oval. That's what Speed Ventures is running in June.

Nils

Mister, PCA is having a track day at SMMP soon, however you wont see me there as I have sworn to never attend their track events again. Other than that.. it gets too hot in the summer, I'll probably see you out there this fall.

Richard, sweet... I'll see you out at LVMS outside course.
