View Full Version : Weird login issue

BlueBooster

When I try to login to socal, it doesn't display the forum page like usual - I just get a blank page with the number 0 (zero) at the top left corner of my browser. Same for when I post a new thread or reply to an existing one, it doesn't take me back to the forum but produces a blank page. I've attached a pic of the result I get when logging in.

To add to this, here is a screen shot from replying to a thread.

Also, when I initially posted this thread, I did not experiance this issue, rather it took me to the main forum pages. Now that I've made 2 reply's to it, I got the same issue with the 0 each time. :idiot2: This is getting irritating.

Check your proxy settings.

The box for using a proxy server is unchecked in my connections options for Internet Explorer.

What did you have in mind specifically?

BTW, I've cleared everything from my internet cache (cookies, temp files, etc.) & I still ahve the same issue.

Is it one specific thread? Cause you seem to be posting fine in here...

hey rob....I know what specific login issues I had (sorry to hijack the thread). Say if I am not logged in and I ckick on a thread, it states that I do not have permission to read it. THEN, when i log in, the page just reverts to the forum start page (it would be cool if it reverted back to the thread). Is there a reason why threads are off limits to guests? Thanks again...

No, every thread I get this issue. I get the 0 after I click post, then when I hit the back button a couple times & hit refresh it will show what i posted.

Yep. Still have the same issue.

Sure would be nice to get it fixed.

Yes and I can log in & post just fine from other computers. Something on this one is amiss.

have you ran windows update? Go into internet temp file folder manually and delete everything....actually you can delete the folder. Also clear windows temp folder using disk cleanup

umm, done that too. I'm an application engineer by trade so I'm rather tech savy, just can't figure WTF is wrong with my computer. grrr... this is getting frustrating. :buck2:

Could it be NIS?

BlueBooster
04-28-2006, 03:18 PM
Yup. fuggin a. I feel real :uglystupid2: now. I didn't think NIS security would affect it, but somehow it is. Now I'll haveto dig through the setting in it to see what the heck is going on.

Does anyone know if this site uses special coding that might cause NIS to have fits with me posting here?

its possible that norton was blocking the login or the transfer of data. Add socalevo to the allowed sites

That seems to have done the trick. Added socal to approved sites for NIS & i'm happilly posting again. I wonder what this site uses to cause NIS to have an issue with it???

BlueBooster
04-28-2006, 10:46 PM
Alright. This is really starting to piss me off. :tickedoff: I added socal as a trusted site & now it's back to the same crap.

Did a little googling & it pulled up the forum for the software that drive this forum.

Perhaps someone can figure out what is going on from the link...

It's still in the approved list. I wonder if there is a specified range of IP numbers I could plug in...

are you able to disable NIS?

gen4k20a2
05-02-2006, 04:15 PM
that was my next suggesttion....disable it. msconfig might be the best way cause the damn thing likes to open itself back up

I did try that behind a firewall at work & I was able to post just fine. If I'm not behind a firewall, I'm not gonna drop NIS...

use microsofts firewall...its good enough. I dont run antivirus/non microsoft firewalls on either of my computers. If you know what youre doing you should be ok.
