UPGrading my BOV, I have a Greddy type-s from my GST but I was also interested in an APS BOV. The type-s is garbage coz the threads on it get stripped very easy. I was wondering if anyone here is using the APS twin chamber BOV. Is it worth the Buy? PLS need some input....

I could of sworn I just read the same thread just worded different a minute ago? :? but yeah I had a type-s before and the adjusting screw stripped and came out, never to be found again..
Haven't heard too much on the APS, but the GFB is what I rock now.

I have JDM MR valve and it holds 26psi fine. The car idles the same just like stock BOV, but sometime it does stall if pushing the clutch too quick at low rpm.

I use a JDM MR Valve .. As to the Type-S sucking and about the threads - I attribute that to people not knowing to loosen the locking nut lol ..

Currently using JDM MR bov, was using Greddy Type-S for 2.5 years (too loud for me). I had no problems with the type-s, people just don't seem to understand how to adjust it.

Please use the search feature. This subject has been beaten to death. Most people modding bov just want the silly sound :P

Stock actually works best for most people 1g, crushed 1g or jdm mr. The stock design is well proven going all the way back to 1g days from which it is based. Aftermarket bov's tend to result in poorer idle generally and or surging. Finally, most cars I have seen have leaks and people blame the bov. Get some decent ideal clamps, make sure everything is tight and save your money for something that actually makes a difference.

if people would go buy a bolt from your local auto parts store that has a 10mm head on it, you wouldn't need the stupid hex key and you won't have to worry about stripping it out (on your type S)

1g BOV (crushed) works wonders... holds 30psi
JDM MR BOV for stock turbo works well
Forge RS BOV for the kill, holds boost a bit better then the popular MR BOV and can go up as 30+psi (for upgraded turbo)

JDM MR and it's fine

my previous BOVs:

greddy type-s - kept leaking at 20psi no matter what, new gasket, rtv, etc
hks ssqv - good bov, holds boost but fluttering uhhhggggghhhh

javins mr does it work on the 06? does it make a noise? ill probly keep my stock bov but ive always wanted that noise since i was a kid and this is my first turbo car!!

Dagul
07-13-2006, 12:34 AM
If you want noise you have a couple options... You get a dual vent BOV and get some sound depending on how much you set to recirc/vta... Another option is an open element filter... You'll get most of the suck/blow sound you're looking for... VTA is generally not recommended on a MAF setup though some people run that type of setup...

Hey T, you wanna trade valves again? I still haven't touched the type rs yet...

If you've upgraded turbo's or gone speed density, I vote for either the HKS SSQ BOV or the Tial BOV's

i just put a greddy rs valve on the other day... so far so good, a lot better than the stock one (05').
but maybe i'll end up having problems with it and switching to the MR valve as others have stated.
