noob question about the MR shift knob, break in period

how do i take out the MR shift knob? and is it recommended or necessary to change the oil after 1000 miles?

twist counterclockwise. unless its like kcross' knob which needed a wrench and Gear Grinder to take off.

1000 miles is too early. the oil hasnt properly worked in that time period. you will just be wasting $

i think im gonna need Gear Grinder over here...i had a friend try and it wouldnt work. just change the oil at 3000 miles macky?

as long as you dont' push the car too hard before your first oil change.. you'll be fine...

If you still cant get it off try one of those adjustable RUBBER oil filter wrenches....some get real small and it is less likely to damage it...

You could also try one of those funny looking wrenches with the rubber strap that you wrap around what you're trying to loosen and lock into place. Maybe you can try one of those thin rubber pads that you use for opening jars with...
