My name is Andrew and i'm an alcoholic.... ooops... wrong forum....

About 5 months ago I came into ownership of a Graphite Gray 2006 Evolution IX w/SSL after a drunk driver totaled my heavily modded 2001.5 Audi A4 at the interection of park and 7th. After learning to walk again, and drive.... i got the Evo and have been loving just about every day of owning it. The modding bug bit me about 10 years ago so whenever i get a vehicle, i cannot leave it alone.

I haven't gotton too into engine stuff yet, but here is what i've got going.

Clarion Pro Audio Deck
SoundStream Reference 500s Amplifier
SoundStream Reference 1000s Amplifier
Two Boston Acoustics Pro 12's
Two Boston Acoustics SL60 Component Sets
Custom trunk floor to secure sub box
Valentine-One with hidden remote display under the cluster hood. (module also modified. see pic)
Sound Deadening TONS OF IT.
AMS Short Ram Intake (yeah.... i hear they lose power...)

Full Turbo Back Custom 3" Exhaust (being installed this week)
Schroth Ralley 4 ASM 4 point harness

Sylvania Osram 6,000k HID bulbs (the stocks were too yellow)
Silverstar fog bulbs
All Red climate controls
Stewart Warner Boost Gauge
I-Pod, hard wired.

Future upgrades:
18x9 Volk LE37-T Wheels.

soundstream ftw. i remember my friend used to push 1 ohm on a 1500w soundstream amp.

Heh... the quality of these amps is simply amazing. They're 1/2 ohm stable in stereo and 1ohm stable in bridged/mono. I'm running mine at 1000w RMS at 1ohm for my subs and 125w RMS x4 but with a 2 channel amp to create 2ohm on the smaller one.

I truly miss the glory days of SoundStream. They're Class A biased amps were unbeatable. I cannot remember being able to find a class A biased amplifier in the past 5 years for under $1500. Everything is Class D.

Oooh, CEC rep... we might need to talk TechArt if (when?) I get a Porsche.* Do any of the CEC brands have stuff for Audi S4s?

Your car looks nice - plenty of the "racers" here will call you out, but you know what you want out of your car. Interesting to see the Old Skool iPod mixed in, too. ;)

Good eye.
Mounting it to the floor can kill you if you're ever in an accident.

Best thing to do is invest in a harness bar.
Next best thing is to use the OEM points + the rear child safety seat points behind the head rests.
Next next best thing is the rear lap belt points.

(you never want to use an angle greater then that.)

45 degrees or greater will cause great bodily harm. Harness Bar or the Latch system(for Child seats) is your best bet like Blaze said. They look cool installed but you dont want any upper body parts separated in a crash...

Congrats on the new evo. You made a great choice. I got mine when my last car was totaled by someone at an intersection as well. It can happen to anyone at anytime.

Yes. Myself and our brand manager are in charge of Oettinger. I'm personally in the process of getting them importing products again to the US due to them going BK last year and are now under new ownership. Things are progressing especially with their new lines of product lines for the A3 Sportback, Golf/GTI IV, and A4 (B7). We'll probably see be seeing their lines of stuff for the B7 S4 and RS4 at SEMA this year.

Here is a little tidbit of what to expect from Oettinger for the new Golf/GTI V platform. :)

As for TechArt.... heh... what else can i say but AMAZING!!!!

I've been into Audi/VW tuning and driving events for years now. My manager at work is a NASA instructor and is been hassling me like crazy to get my Evo out on the track. I'm doing a RacerFactory event this fall in pahrump, NV as my first track time in this car. I wanna make sure I have my suspension done, sway bars, some solid engine work, and R-Comps for my stock wheels since i'll be getting nice 18's for the street.

Real nice car.. one question... where do you have your harnesses anchored? Noticed you didnt list harness bar or see on e in a pic...

Currently they're secured into the mounting points under the rear seat. This harness is from what i hear the only DOT approved harness due to the ASM system (antisubmarine). For increased safety, i'm planning having a friends shop install a very strong reinforced bar built into the rear deck near the speakers where i'll mount the harness there.

And yes... i do know the dangers of running ANY 4 point setup without a full cage. But a full cage on the street is probably even more dangerous than running my current setup because a full cage requires the driver and passenger to wear a helmet regardless of foam padding, etc.

Correct. Good to see you guys have proper knowledge. I'm avoiding a harness bar due to the way this harness is designed as well as my desire to want a DOT approved system so i wont get nailed with a big fine if i wear them anywhere but the track.

Mine are currently mounted at the rear seatbelt points and the lap section is bolted into the factory points on the cars stock 3 point system as recommended by Schroth so i can still utilize the 3 point belt.

They'll be much safer when i move the mounting points up. My manager at work said the child restraint points are not strong enough to use without reinforcement. So until i do that, they'll stay how they're mounted.

Yep. It doesn't matter how good of a driver you are or how safe your car is.... sh*t happens to the best of us. The 911 call was made at 9:03pm just as I was becoming conscious again. My friend who was riding shotgun made and he escaped with only minor injuries. I was knocked out, separated my right knee, sustained a concussion, whiplash, memory loss, and one hell of a bruise from the seat belt and airbag. My A4 if i recall was a 5/5 in crash testing and was moving at 40mph or so at impact. The other guy was doing 20-25mph and hit me almost head on. I pray to god nothing like this happens in my Evo which is a 2/5 in front crash ratings.

One word of advice to EVERYONE here. If you spend lots of money to modify your car.... PAY THE EXTRA FEW BUCKS A MONTH TO INSURE YOUR MODS!!!!! My A4 blue booked stock @ $18.5k. It was MINT and had over $7,000 in mods. Mercury Insurance doesn't use bluebook and base your value on "the average value of three replacement vehicles". So basically they found three thrashed A4's with similar miles and said "here is what we give you to replace your totaled car"......

Rrrrr.........

I totally agree with the "insure your mods" statement. When my Evo was totalled, I got $29.5K for the Evo, but only $3K for $9K in mods. I can't complain too much on 33 cents/dollar.

As for Oettinger, I also have a GTI Mk V - that GTI pic you posted looks sweet. I am hoping to be back in SoCal in 6mo or so - we'll need to link up. If you do get info for the S4/RS4, just let me know. Thanks in advance. O0

No problem man. I mainly deal with the wholesale segment of www.cecwheels.com but have the ability through our showroom to do retail as well as group buys through some of our resellers sites.

At least you got some value from your mods. The bloody morons only gave me $16.5k for the car. The plus side is i'm in the middle of a pretty major lawsuit against the guy who hit and ran (only made it like a block away) who was arrested for DUI and Hit and Run. My med bills were roughly $20k or so. Settlements tend to run 2-3x your med bills.

Good luck with your suit - squeeze that guy for every nickel.

I'm normally not one to sue.... but this POS not only was drunk, he tried to flee the scene to escape responsibiity for me laying in the street bleeding and half conscious after trying to step out of the car and doing a face plant not knowing my right knee was blown.

I have no sympathy for such pathetic individuals.

Yeah I would have paid the cops to waffle his ass on the way to jail...thats bullshit...Drunk drivers should be forced to drive in canyons blindfolded for punishment....thats some good chance taking.....
