Uploading/Changing profile avatars

Any news on when this is going to get fixed? My avatar went away & now I cant put up. I've tried doing it via web address & uploading, both give errors.

Here's the error for when I try to upload from my computer:


An Error Has Occurred!
The attachments upload directory is not writable. Your attachment or avatar cannot be saved.

Your avatar may be located on a page that socal can't access.
Try saving the image to your local machine, then loading it manually.
Otherwise, try uploading it to the gallery section, then doing the url link.

I still get the same error message when I use a pix from my SoCalEvo gallery:
