I just noticed in a lot of threads about exhaust related tickets that many people complain about profiling. Namely people complain that motorcycle riders do not get harrassed. I can't count the number of times I have heard "Why is it that the harley with straight pipes doesn't get pulled over, but I do?"

So to prevent having to answer this question any more, I decided to post this.

27151
(b) For the purposes of exhaust systems installed on motor
vehicles with a manufacturer's gross vehicle weight rating of less
than 6,000 pounds, other than motorcycles, a sound level of 95 dbA or
less, when tested in accordance with Society of Automotive Engineers
Standard J1169 May 1998, complies with this section. Motor vehicle
exhaust systems or parts thereof include, but are not limited to,
nonoriginal exhaust equipment.

I should also say that I now understand why cops are ignorant when it comes to vehicle modifications. Basically, you guys can thank ricers, freeway fly-by's, and all the innocent people they have killed.

On the plus side, no one had a damned clue what an evo was...

Motorcycles have noise restrictions too and their ricers and stunters get hassled for it too. Along with blinker mods and other silly stuff. Cops being the good old boys that they are just typically love pick up trucks, mustangs and harleys. You can fight the system or roll with it. Get one of the vee-hicles that they like and you can get away with driving on the sidewalk in a school zone. Since I have had a v-twin I have not been hassled or even questioned about noise. And my bike is effing loud. Dont hate the players, hate the game.
