Some of the toughest lessons in life you are supposed to learn from someone else's experience, please let this be one of those lessons.

Thanks.

I guess enough time has passed that we can all laugh about it now. Kent had a concussion, but was otherwise fine as I understand it. He has shaken off the collision and his driving has continued to improve.

The lessons to be learned

1. Don't try to save it if you go off in Turn 9 (I follow this rule); and

2. Get a good roll cage (I have yet to follow this rule, shame on me).

Our driver walked away bruised but otherwise healthy, but he was not ok until he kicked everyone's ass for a complete calendar year, this day of tearing up equipment gave birth to the 18 in a row winning streak. This video was before Kent had won his first SCCA race, and losing the championship last year was not an option for him or our racing team.

I remember being there that day it was pritty crazy to see....the car ended up looking like a little evo hatchback i had posted up bunch of pics of the car and kinda the path it took to get like that, i think it fliped like 5 time.

I like how he tries to start the car. Poor guy must have been shaken senseless. Glad he didn't get hurt. Also glad he didn't hit (or get hit by) the pit wall.

2. Get a good roll cage (I have yet to follow this rule, shame on me).

Follow your own rules, biggee turbo before roll cage is generally bad form.

Here is an example what can happen when a driver with much more track experience than the majority of you gives a low speed ride around Thunderhill, where driving at low speed caused a lack of focus that led him to ignore the fundementals of driving any car at speed on track.

Been there, done that... IIRC, Kent's accident happened around the same time (within a week) of my rollover. We both walked away - the Evo is a big reason why.

Congrats again to Kent, John, and the entire RRE/RRC crew for all the success. Thanks to Kent for his kind words in e-mail to me... O0

Our Evos are equipped with an extremely specialized welded in roll cage, which was designed around Kent, and his physical dimensions. The location where the most popular bolt in type roll bars and cages bolt to the unit body was completely destroyed during this wreck. The design of our cage, quality of fabrication, type of seat and strength of the non adjustable seat mounts had everything to do with Kent walking away from this one.

John - there is no doubt that in Kent's case, the cage saved the day. My statement was strictly give kudos to the Evo for having much better structural integrity than most other cars out there.

thats true ...the flatbed guys, sheriff, city cops, ins.adjuster, and body shop were all amazed at how well it held together considering it rolled.
