Anybody know of a good in-car video setup for the track? How much do you need to spend to get decent video quality and image stabilization?

Thanks.

what view do you want, the mounts arent expensive. it's mostly the camera that is...

I want to save as much money as possible, but don't want to sacrifice a lot of image quality. I know quality and saving money are inversely proportional, but I would like a decent compromise.

Any setups that you may have or have seen that you would recommend?

simple camcorder mounted on a harness bar is the most common thing i've seen.

I have the harness bar. I will look for a mount.

Would something like this work?

any camcorder that floats your boat would work...just make sure the mount works.

Any recommended mounts? I have google searched and came up with this as a possible, albeit pricey, option:

Sorry, don't mean to be a donk, but if someone has a recommended option (ie. mount and camera that they swear by), then it would make the trial and error process easier. Thanks again.

Be sure you are faster than most of the other drivers in your group before you put a camera in your car. The last thing you want is video showing all the other cars passing you all day long. :2funny:

Good point Richard. Maybe I'll just turn it on when I am in the beginner groups.

The reason for the video is so that I can clean up my lines, but I also am disappointed that I didn't get footage of passing two porsche turbos late into turn 8 of WSIR a couple of weeks ago. (Granted they were underdriven, as the instructor promptly passed my ass in one of the turbos in the last session of the day).

Here is my setup:

1. Canon Elura 100. $289 on sale at Dell.com (shoots real widescreen, not black bars on top of pixels)
2. Sony external powered mic in trunk
3. I/O port camera mount on rollbar

And the output:
