the V1 is a lot...about $400 (some claim its more but the site says 400) but its software is upgradeable O0

passport 8500 x50 is about 300 for red and 340 for blue lights

I have a Escort Passport 8500 x50 for sale if anyone is interested. It lights up red and am selling if for $175.

I have both the Escort and the Valentine. They both work about the same when it comes down to it. The V1 is more sensitive so it goes off a lot more even when cops and their radar guns aren't around. That would mean the X50 give off less fals alarms and is much quieter unit.

i think i'd rather bo over alert than it going off too late O0

You can't go wrong with any of the "big 4." The Bel RX65 Pro is by far the best on Ka (especially over hills and around corners), V1 owns laser detection (for all the good that will do), the X50 is very good all around, quiet, and has the best features IMO, and the Bel STi is very good as well. The STi is pricey and built more for places where radar detectors are illegal, since it is stealthed from radar detector detectors (great for Canada, Virginia and 18 wheelers).

Of the big 4, the X50 is the least expensive, followed by the RX-65, V1 and STi. The V1 falses a lot and the newer revisions have issues.

Whatever you do, don't get a cheap detector like a whistler or Cobra. They are crap and will make the V1 false on Ka.

If you are serious about researching detectors, check out the forums at radardetector.net. I have owned the V1 and X50 and currently use an RX65.
