Who Reserved a PS3?

Ok Who are the lucky Mofos On here that was able to Reserve a PS3 on Tues 10/10. According to Gamestop it sold out within minutes :-\ :-\. Yep 400,000 thousand units sold out in minutes. Next shipment will be 1-2million by the end of the year and another 6 million by march 07.

i'm gonna jump on the ps3 as soon as gt5 is available. plus, i think the first batch will have some sort of bugs like most game systems do when they are first released (xbox 360 for example). by the time the 4th or 5th shipment arrives here i'm sure all the bugs will be worked out.

The PS3s are already having problems with overheating. With all the technology in this system it doesnt suprise me.

$600 for a game system is just ridiculous. plus almost any 2nd gen xbox 360 game looks better than most of what they've shown for ps3. not to mention the problems with over heating and the rather low yield of processors that actually function at full capacity. the only reason i'd even consider trying to get one is to put it on ebay for $2000 for some idiot to buy lol. i'll just get a Wii.

i work for game system / accessory company. PS3 systems are basically extremely hard to get on the first batch...we might be able to get like 10pc but thats still waiting for the sony distributor to confirm shipment...
Nintendo Wii however are a bit better we get to have more units shipped than the PS3.

my thoughts exactly. if i bought one it would be to sell it on ebay. the low yield of fully functional processors. the threat of releasing ps3's with 7 of the 8 cores working because they only need 7 of the 8 is not worth 600 dollars to me. you forgot to mention the problems with the blue laser diodes for the blueray having problems.

i am going to camp out in front of best buy. when i got my xbox 360 i must have gotten a good one cause i have had no problemss with it so far

yeah i havnt had any problems with my 360 either, most of the problems were caused by the power supply unit overheating and freezing the system. same problem the ps3 supposedly had at the tokyo game show where their systems kept freezing. but its the bigger issues with the ps3 that worry me. such as the low yield on processors, untested processors who knows how long they will last, and the problems with the blue laser diodes for the blueray giving them problems.

Sad thing about PS3 is that a month or 2 ago 2-3 games backed out of the PS3 games line-up. So I'd rather wait and see what happens to it.

On the other hand, I'm definately pre-ordering Wii.

Trust me when I say that most of the games on PS3 have far better graphics than anything on my Xbox 360 that is currently in the shop for it's 2nd repair in under 1 year.

how can you say most? no one has seen any games or even knows what games will release or who is still supporting ps3. the ps3 has had the most production problems of any system i have heard of. every single system at the tokyo game show froze. a lot of blue ray players that are out are having problems as well, and you want one in your gaming system? not to mention they have been having trouble getting the blue laser diodes for the blue ray, they have been having problems with their cell processor yield. they will be unable to make games at the advertised 1080p, and the comanies that havnt dropped them will be producing games in 720p which is the same as the xbox. even though there is a blueray player the first few generations of games will not be on blue ray disks. now i planned on getting the ps3 over the xbox but since it took so long i got the xbox in the meanwhile. and given all the problems there is no way id be buying a first production ps3. i really want one but waiting is a chance im willing to take.
