Well today I went to South Coast Mitsubishi and bought a 2006 brand new Lancer Evolution GSR IX SE.
It is my first stick shift car and I love it. Everytime I begin driving I get a big smile on my face now. I have trouble parking because I dont want to stop driving it. I am very happy with my decision. I recommend this car to anyone who wants to have fun while driving.

oh man. good luck. some people say its not a good car to lean on. but you'll be fine as long as you're patient and you can hold your urge to gun it and stuff O0

Thanks guys.
Yeah all master the shifting in no time.
I cant gas (Although I have been tempted) it because I have to break in the engine for at least the first 2,000 miles. Which gives me time to master shifting.
How many miles did you guys use to break in your engines?

some people say 200, some say 2k, 3k, 5k, it all depends...there's actually someone who says the key is 20 (http://www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htm)

i was going to do 3k i think but then when i saw that break in secret i changed to it when i was at at like 1,000 miles. it was fun. but i didnt really push my car until i was around 2,500

yes this thread is in the wrong place

so you're the one who tried to decide between evo and gto. i'd choose the evo too! lol. gto's game mileage is the worst for sports cars i believe.

I taught Ollie my roommate how to drive stickshift in his Evo. He HATED trying to learn with my old Ranger I had. having your daily driver as a stickshift is a damned good motivator. Good luck and try to learn good habits. Burning out a stock clutch is fairly easy to do.

With my size 13 feet I foot and foot the brake and gas pedals. Couldn't hit the clutch if I tried to heel and toe!

But yea I learned to drive a stickshift back when I was 14 and only owned sticks. Personally I am of the mind that people need to pass their driving test in a stickshift. Any moron can pass in an Automatic. In fact quite often they do, as evidence by our freeways...

That and when I was a valet and subsequently a valet manager, I have noticed less and less people can drive stick....I started in 1992 and stopped back in 2002 and the last year was having to teach every other valet before they could be valets compared to not even taking any valets in without stick experience....

congrats and welcome.

i also learned stick in my evo. i pretty much drove it home off the lot after a quick lesson from my buddy. i stalled a couple times and never grinded once, but my friend actually did while he was demonstrating to me, that punk lol.
