data logging 3rd gear pulls?

just curriouse why people choose 3rd gear pulls to log when they are tuning? in most import cars 3rd gear is the 1:1 gear ratio but in the evo it seems 4th gear is the closest to 1:1 i would think when tuning you would want to use the 1:1 gear ratio because its pretty much directly what the engine is outputting?

+1 probably covered but also i think its because 4th gear at redline is like 120 mph lol
