Ok, this is the complete process of installing the Defi Control Unit II using the factory radio harness. I found this way easier than tapping the cigarette lighter.
1. Remove the panel ac controls panel
-Remove all the knobs to reveal 2 screws.

take those screws out
2. Remove the radio.
-4 screws holding it down.

remove those screws and pull it out slowly (it's hefty)

-Picture of the plugs behind the head unit. blue goes with blue, green goes with green (what a surprise)

-Harness

3. Tapping the harness.
-Red wire from CUII to Red w/ black stripe wire on radio harness.
http://www.socalevo.net/gallery/albums/userpics/10991/normal_INSTALL%20defi%20control%20unit%20%28and%20 a%20gauge%20mounting%20idea%29%2009.jpg.JPG
-Orange wire from CUII to Yellow w/ blue stripe wire on radio harness.
http://www.socalevo.net/gallery/albums/userpics/10991/normal_INSTALL%20defi%20control%20unit%20%28and%20 a%20gauge%20mounting%20idea%29%2008.jpg.JPG
-White wire from CUII to Green w/ white stripe wire on radio harness.
http://www.socalevo.net/gallery/albums/userpics/10991/normal_INSTALL%20defi%20control%20unit%20%28and%20 a%20gauge%20mounting%20idea%29%2010.jpg.JPG
-Black wire from CUII to one of the bolts inside the radio housing for ground.
http://www.socalevo.net/gallery/albums/userpics/10991/normal_INSTALL%20defi%20control%20unit%20%28and%20 a%20gauge%20mounting%20idea%29%2011.jpg.JPG
overall shot of the wiring
http://www.socalevo.net/gallery/albums/userpics/10991/normal_INSTALL%20defi%20control%20unit%20%28and%20 a%20gauge%20mounting%20idea%29%2007.jpg.JPG
now you need to take care of where you put the sender unit in the engine bay.
http://www.socalevo.net/gallery/albums/userpics/10991/normal_INSTALL%20defi%20control%20unit%20%28and%20 a%20gauge%20mounting%20idea%29%2016.jpg.JPG
stick it on that bolt
better shot, note the wiring in red. that goes to the hole in the fire wall
http://www.socalevo.net/gallery/albums/userpics/10991/normal_INSTALL%20defi%20control%20unit%20%28and%20 a%20gauge%20mounting%20idea%29%2017.jpg.JPG
route the wires through the hole in the firewall
http://www.socalevo.net/gallery/albums/userpics/10991/normal_INSTALL%20defi%20control%20unit%20%28and%20 a%20gauge%20mounting%20idea%29%2018.jpg.JPG
the control unit fits nice and tight in this area of the car right below the cubby (this may be different with a radio relocation kit)
http://www.socalevo.net/gallery/albums/userpics/10991/normal_INSTALL%20defi%20control%20unit%20%28and%20 a%20gauge%20mounting%20idea%29%2015.jpg.JPG
another shot showing how you can slide it in.
http://www.socalevo.net/gallery/albums/userpics/10991/normal_INSTALL%20defi%20control%20unit%20%28and%20 a%20gauge%20mounting%20idea%29%2014.jpg.JPG
now for the gauge mounting idea.
that is a dirty mounting bracket but if you had a new one you'd see how that could look nice.

further out shot

snake the wiring down the edge of the door
http://www.socalevo.net/gallery/albums/userpics/10991/normal_INSTALL%20defi%20control%20unit%20%28and%20 a%20gauge%20mounting%20idea%29%2019.jpg.JPG
wedge the wiring into the mouldings
http://www.socalevo.net/gallery/albums/userpics/10991/normal_INSTALL%20defi%20control%20unit%20%28and%20 a%20gauge%20mounting%20idea%29%2020.jpg.JPG
this is at the bottom of the dash where you can snake wire it into the wire loom

why not remove the a-pillar and put the wiring through the dash so you wont see anything. just for a cleaner install.

If your gauge lighting does'nt stay on you need to tap the lighting wire to the ACC wire!
