View Full Version : tuning for 100 octane from an ideal 91 octane tune EVO IX

Posted this on another forum as well, just looking for as much info as possible.

Alright got my 91 octane tune running great. Peaks at about 22psi. Pulls great all the way through 7500. AFR about 11.2 - 11.3 and 0 knock counts all the way through. I would like to start on my 100 octane tune now.

1. Generally how much more timing can I start with over what I've got now?

2. Should I lean the AFR for higher octane? Say 11.5 - 11.6 ?

3. How much more boost?

Just looking for some starting points here.

I do have a k&n drop in, 3" TBE with HFC. I use the ECU to control boost with a smaller restrictor in the bleed line. Everything else is stock.

Thanks for any suggestions.

What exactly does your timing look like now? Has the stock map been altered?
What are you using for fuel and timing control?
What are you using to monitor knock and AFR?
I've gotten away with 25 psi on 100, but that's with an VIII turbo. Is the stock solinoid and ECU able to bump boost up that high and hold it steady?

i run 27 spike hold 25 on 100 octane before methanol with no knock leaned out to like .897 on narrow band and like 18 degrees timing or 19 i forget but my car is weird with methanol i run a lot leaner with like 22 degrees of timing same boost

modified eflash map to suit 91 octane better, 11 degrees at the redline, 4 degrees at 4000

What are you using for fuel and timing control?
ECUFLASH stock ECU

What are you using to monitor knock and AFR?
Knock, stock ECU knock count, AFR LC-1 wide band logged with evoscan

Yes, I did replace the stock orifice right after the turbo nipple with a smaller one and tuned boost, at 75 on waste gate duty cycle I get 22 psi. Boost does tapper to about 18-19 by 7500.



The car runs 7.9 in the 1/8th so I know my tune works. I'm just looking for more now.

my car ran 12.4 at lacr corrected 12.11 with only TBE, intake, o2 housing and a flash so im pretty sure my tune works too lol

also this was with no alky
