This thing should be sick. Just announced at the recent CES in Vegas ... Escort's new Passport 9500i radar detector. It is basically an 8500 X50 with a GPS chip built in. Known red light camera locations will be programmed in from the factory, and it will have a mini USB so you can download updates. You can also program in your own camera locations, known false locations and/or speed traps. Other features include voice alerts and a reading of your MPH when it gets an alert.

v1 does have indicators, and no other detector does.... its technology is patented so nobody else can have it.

The V1 arrow patent actually runs out soon. It's the only thing I miss about my V1, but it's hardly essential.

I had a V1 for 7 months and then sold it on eBay because it was unimpressive. V1's are terrible in detecting Ka band around corners and over hills ... something I can personally vouch for and confirmed in this review:

http://speedzones.com/

The V1 also falses more than any other detector on X and K band, and even falses Ka if someone using a cheap detector like the notorious Cobra's get anywhere near you on the road. They tried adding a feature to "Junk" false Ka's, but many people report that it junks real cop radar too. Many vehicle taillights also set the V1's laser alert off.

The 8500 and X50 are much quieter and alert just as well. I've used both for years. Currently I rock a Bel RX-65, as it's the #1 rated detector on Ka band (CHP specialty). I got 2 tickets in 7 months using the V1, and I have never gotten in ticket in years of using the Belscort's (Bel and Escort are the same company now).

The 9500i has great promise given that it should be completely quiet on routes you drive frequently, as you can program all the falses in. I'm holding off getting one for 6 months or so to let them work out any potential bugs. They have shipped already though, some people on RadarDetector.net have already received theirs.

Yep, had the 8500 x50 and got the V1... V1 is trash and the x50 outperformed it in everyway

looking to get the new 9500

i know this is a old thread, but though id still throw my 2 cents in

also, the arrows are cool and all, but in all honesty, you will slow down no matter what when you see a KA band

The 8500 x50 is absolutely amazing.. picks up Ka band around corners which is EXACTLY what I was looking for. Got it for $200 new from Best Buy (discount).

I would recommend to anyone looking for a good detector. 9500 looks nice, but GPS? I don't really have a problem running red lights. Now if we start getting speed cameras here in the US more, then I would get one.

just so you guys know about the 9800i, if you look on youtube there are videos of its gps system locking out actual ka threats. It doesnt work as well as they make it sound. I just got a v1 after using a 8500 for 4 years and except for the fucking x and k chatter I think it detects ka way father than my 8500 did.

You are reffering to those lydar dudes. I went with the V1. I did my research first and posted threads here, hands down V1
