Anyone watch Death Note? It's the #1 anime in Japan right now for good reason. I started watching it the other night and didn't stop until I got caught up.. Episode 16 came out Monday (37 eps. scheduled).

Licensing isn't too big of an issue. There's always gonna be subbers subbing it. Naruto and Bleach have been licensed for a while but people still watch it.

yes i know but depending on who licenses it dictates which main groups keep subbing it. most of the main groups stop subbing it. if its a good anime small groups show up to continue subbing, and they are usually break offs of the original groups. but no matter what the number of groups always drops when something gets licensed. and depending how popular it is the anime gets harder to find. but since so many people like this anime there is already a few break off groups that have picked it up.

I'm not too big on reading the manga before the series finishes - especially for something this good! I know it's gonna get even crazier..

Heard about it. I don't want to start another anime though. Finally got off the addiction.

From animenewsnetwork.com:

Plot Summary: Light Yagami (Or Raito) is an ace student with great aspects who's bored out of his mind. One day he finds the Death Note a notebook held by a shinigami (Death God). with the Death Note in hand, Light decides to create a perfect world. A world without crime or criminals. However when criminals start dropping dead one by one, the authorites send the legendary detective L to track down the killer.

I'd recommend this for anyone - even those new to Japanese animation.

It is a cool concept. Kind of like the Never Ending Story, but it doesn't suck.

Okay, I've seen the first three episodes. This is creeping me out.

the manga is the original source, thats like saying you prefer to watch a movie based on a book before reading it.
