How to modify your gauge cluster for a useful gauge.

1. Take apart your dash and get to this point (gauges apart).
(image not found for the loss)

2. Fashion a circular base and cut out the shape of your wideband display.
This piece is glued in place so make it pretty. You can use a piece of plastic or whatever as well.
http://www.socalevo.net/gallery/albums/userpics/10991/How%20to%20modify%20your%20stock%20lancer%20gauge% 20to%20accept%20useful%20gauges%2005.jpg

3. Use the base you made, and mark where you need to cut to fit your display. Your display will be different than mine. Deeper, shallower, wider whatever.
http://www.socalevo.net/gallery/albums/userpics/10991/How%20to%20modify%20your%20stock%20lancer%20gauge% 20to%20accept%20useful%20gauges%2006.jpg

4. Cut the base. You may want to tape off the rest of the gauge assembly. Keep cutting until your display fits.
http://www.socalevo.net/gallery/albums/userpics/10991/How%20to%20modify%20your%20stock%20lancer%20gauge% 20to%20accept%20useful%20gauges%2007.jpg

5. Depending on the thickness of the base you use, you'll need to shave a layer off the plastic. The cosmetic cover to the gauges actually sandwitches them.
So if your base is too thick, it won't fit. Think of this as shaving the frosting off a cake.

6. Glue the display to the base...You can use hot glue if you want. Whatever. Just attach it.

7. Run your wires through the open bulb openings in the gauge cluster

8. Position the base and display, glue the base into place.

9. Remove the bulbs from the back of the cluster

10. Place plastic covers back on

meh, if i were to try something like that, i'd probably hack up the whole cluster to mount 2-3 52mm or smaller gauges in that open space.

great idea and very clean finish though. props to the owner!

WideBand Display for innovate Controllers. This gauge will display the air fuel ratio from the wideband innovate controller LM-1 and LC-1 models. Its very small and sticks anywhere. size of a key chain remote. Comes complete with directions. Works from 10:1 to 20:1 Air/Fuel ratio.

I've always wanted to make my own LCD or OLED cluster gauge, that took readings from my Zeitronix and various other readings from OBD2, but that would require alot more time to make then this

yah ...i had wondered if it was an lc1 display. still looks different though, the numbers on the lc1 display dont seem to take up as much space as the 'lancer' gauge one.

I managed to fit the stock mitsu evo boost gauge from are sport pack.
then i disassembled my valentine 1 external display and fit it in there under the speedo.

the only warning lights you give up is the doors, intercooler spray(if applicable) someone commented about the oil warning and thats by the CEL not in the lancer location.

heres the first pic of just the gauge in there

this one is with the overlay on, i brushed and polished it ( because i didn't realize it was on the floor of my garage for 6 months getting brutalized)

this is with the valentine display in there.

bad pic and i am replacing that overlay with a rexpeed carbon one. and to fit the valentine display you dont realy need to cut anything not even for the cord just sandwich it in there. and out the side...
