then lock it.Â* i said im not going out to get tickets.. i have never gotten at ticket in my life.Â* i just want to go for a nice sunday cruise.

i have organized quite a few cruises. when i had my gto... with 20+ cars, and we never had a problem, as long as people are smart about it.

This is exactly my point......no matter how fast/slow/law abiding you are as a group, EVO's always get pulled over...

do you guys think cops watch for threads like this so they can wait to pull us over?

who cares what time is posted,.. there is another san diego cruise.. and it has the date and time. and no one bitched about that.

Dude no need to be rude, especially towards a moderator.
If you feel you must do a canyon run, or mountain run why dont you set it up by using PM. Yes it is very easy for a cop to get on here and look for when people are gonna do a run. Doesnt take a genius to figure that one out. How do you think they bust a lot of the street racing? By reading forums.

Turbo_Saloon
02-18-2007, 10:14 PM
1st off i wast street racing. or canyon running. i just went for a nice sunday cruise.. is that so bad..

i post up palomar mtn. and you all assume im racing around... read before you post.

TeKiZeRo
02-18-2007, 10:39 PM
Even if you are cruising, the cops can still pull you over, give you shit, and even write out tickets for stupid shit like modifications or tint...

Turbo_Saloon
02-18-2007, 10:46 PM
well i dont have tint, or any mods besides a shifter handle.. i could drive to the store in my brothers s10 and get pulled over.. whats your point?

wtf is wrong with you people.??

i went up there to take pics.. you all assume im going racing or something...Â* because i said lets go to Palomar...Â* tons of people go up there every weekend....

the people that might get tickets are the damn bikers knee dragging all the way up the mountainn. not the evo going to take pics.

TeKiZeRo
02-18-2007, 10:51 PM
I don't care if its just you. WE are just saying if you caravan up there with a bunch of cars you all can get ticketed for stupid shit just because you posted up the times. OUR point is that there are cops who frequent the forums just to look for posts like these with dates and times. Do you want to start a cruise and end up having everyone getting tickets?

Turbo_Saloon
02-18-2007, 10:58 PM
i would like to see proof of this.. i have been on 10+ huge cruises and never had anything happen. i really dont think cops spend their time on forums watching for cruises.. there is a shit load of forums out there.

and what about the thread with the meet at the pizza place that has date time and route. and no one has said anything about it./

Ricardon

Ok. I didn't really want to get into this deal here because it's rather pointless, but everyone is missing the point entirely. Let me break it down here for everyone. By no means is this a flame of any sort.

People post meet times, dates and locations...it's a meet. People from areas not so close to the meet location generally caravan together with people from their own areas. Not a big deal. Once again, it's a caravan to a meet. There is a rather large difference between a caravan to an event and a "cruise" or a "sunday drive". Regardless of how slow you might drive on your cruise or your sunday drive.

The people that have issue with you posting the info for your cruise up palomar, don't have issue with you driving the road. In fact, I bet they'd love to come along with you. The problem is that you just can't post a cruise or a drive like this on public forums. A) The cops can and do read forums...they have read this forum before. B) If something happens to go wrong on your little cruise, things can be traced back to here and the entire site gets placed under scrutiny.

I have seen a number of forum communities go down because of this very thing. People go on a cruise. Someone fucks up. Someone burns alive in car that goes off the side of the hill. Story makes it all around to every other vehicle forum. Said forum shuts down. It's happened several times in the last 3 years alone.

Like I said, not a single person here is calling you a street racer. Nobody is hazing you for driving the canyons. Nobody looks down on you for wanting to drive the canyons with other EVO owners. Just don't post your canyon drives on the forum. I don't care if you see a bunch of other threads of people posting canyon run dates and times. They're not doing the brightest thing either.

If I can make a suggestion, instead of bitching only I'll add some advice. Go to your local meet. Meet people, talk to them. If there are some other people in your local area that are into canyon driving then get their cel phone numbers. Get their screen names here. When you want to go on a run, call them on their cel phones, or send them a PM here. That's basically how the WLA mini meet got started. That's how SoCalEvo got started. I feel like taking a drive on a tuesday night...speed dial bevo, send pm to apexstrafer, speed dial chrison, speed dial goku. Simple, safe, and nobody else has to suffer if one of us decides it's our time to die that night.

Turbo_Saloon
02-18-2007, 11:35 PM
ok that is cool with me.. maybe i could suggest something. maybe put that in the rules somewhere?

this is the only thing i could find. 3. DO NOT POST items such as illegal activites. We do not condone "canyon running" or illegal street racing or otherwise any illegal street activity.

i did not go canyon running. just went up to take some pics and have a nice drive. and i have not found anything in the rules about not posting times/ locations.

if there was i would of never done it.

my last forum we had threads on cruises or meets. that were 100+ pages long had all the info, and never ever had one little prob.

so. yeah sorry. wont do it again.

TeKiZeRo
02-18-2007, 11:41 PM
It's not against the rules, its common sense. I'm not flaming at your drive up to Palomar. As I stated in my first post on here I said I couldn't make it; which implies I would of gone if I could. It's not like since you've never had it happen to you, doesn't mean it hasn't happened before. You just increase the chance for whoever is going to get ticketed by posting that information that's all. We're just saying its not a good idea to do it.

Ricardon
02-18-2007, 11:44 PM
Like I said, totally understand and was not flaming at you, as I know that there is nothing in the official rules about it. Â*It's more or less the unwritten rule so to speak? Â*Maybe it should be discussed, I don't have that kind of input anymore. Â*And I'm not sure if anyone was yelling at you about canyon running, whether you did or did'nt does'nt really matter to me hehehehehe (I can't ever seem to control myself and always end up breaking the speed limit in the mountains). Â*I just really don't want to see follow up posts about people getting full hazed by the police, which has happened soooo many times here after posting a cruise or a drive. Â*From what I've seen, the cops don't bother Miata cruises (and those can get as long as 200 cars up in santa monica). Â*But get 2 or 3 EVOs together and they threaten to tow you even if you're just parked at a lookout just talking. Â*It sucks.

if that is true that is bull. there has to be something else in the mix. maybe the evo owners attitude? that makes a huge difference.

TeKiZeRo
02-18-2007, 11:53 PM
Or maybe cops are just asses sometimes =/.

Turbo_Saloon
02-18-2007, 11:57 PM
i dont think so.... yeah maybe sometimes.. but i think your attitude makes all the difference.

my buddy has gotten tons of tickets... that im sure he could of gotten out of.. but he decides to get cocky with the cop.

i have been pulled over once for going way to fast. the cop was crazy in the begining and i respected him yes sir no sir. and he let me go with a warning. he could of ruined me if he wanted.

and im sure that rice fest in san marcos on friday nights sure doesnt help with the cops around here.

I don't see the big deal. It might not be the smartest thing to post from an individual perspective, simply because of the *possibility* of cops reading and staking out the cruise (I've seen it happen), but it does not affect the forum or the rest of us in any way. If the guy wants to post up cruises and he's within the rules, then so be it. If it's against the rules, then the thread should have been closed from the start.

Palomar is tits, but I don't see the appeal of driving it slowly. ;-) Try DucatiGirl's Anza-Borrego run sometime ... one of the best "cruises" in SoCal.

I wish I was kidding. We've been asked to leave or get towed on several occasions by police. Every single time we were just parked at a lookout...in actual parking spaces and talking. I'm not going to disclose the spot, but a lot of people will know exactly what I'm talking about. No BS, just the facts. Most of the times the cops were'nt even the slightest bit cool about it. Telling us that if we don't live up there and they see us again that we would be towed instantly...stuff like that. Now, I'm not saying we were'nt driving fast before or after those incidents. This was also during a time when that particular police dept. received a large sum of money to stop "street racing" and they basically burned the entire mountain range out. So much so that you hardly ever see people up there now. Which, I'm not even remotely going to complain about hahahaha.

ive never had a problem, lived in san diego my whole life and been doing runs out east in evos for past 3 years. Gone to the desert my whole life.

Main thing to keep in mind is - Be respectful and you will be respected.

SOOO THATS WHY WE ONLY HAVE 11 PEOPLE SIGNED UP FOR THE MEET
The meet planned for March will go smoothley everyone. I will make sure of it. None of us really know eachother, accept for on the boards, so I would like to get a feel for everyones driving... Anyone who drives like a asshole will get booted. Guys on crazy bikes go up all the time, and im sure they are more of a issue to the CHP then anyone else.
We are going to have fun, make friends and its a DAY drive... You cant drive fast up there during the day! I dont see what all this commotion is about LOL.

Thats why i keep all my meets/info private. Go out weekday at midnight when nobody is on the road.
Only a idiot would try and go up the hill during the day when everyone is on the road.

The CRAZZZZY ass drives are always with friends who call us up after dark then we take it from there. No online plans, no lists to join... no haters talkin schmack on the boards LOL
