time to upgrade... please give me your advice

regardless of how you feel, i want to know.

so im hitting 100k miles in my 03 8, needed to rebuild the turbo, so i figured, why not throw a new evo9 turbo in there (since it would be the same price)

do i need anything to make it fit? cause i saw something on buschur for the 20g 9...

also went with a new 02 housing, 680 injectors, fuel pump, afc, lower i/c pipe

thoughts, concerns, comments?

If you purchase the 9 turbo with a kit, there is nothing else you need since it will come with all the oil and coolant lines and the necessary turbo discharge pipe.

If you buy the bare bones 9 turbo, you will need to purchase a turbo discharge pipe from the 9 at the dealer. You can get away with bending the stock 8 turbo coolant and oil lines.

well theres several options
you can either get the IX stock turbo .. all you need is the mitsu (oil and water lines of a IX) along with the outlet pipe for a IX as well...
or you can purchase the IX 20 L green dog, you will still need the IX lines along with the IX outlet pipe as well...

i just got the bare bones 9 from gruppe-s
so ill make sure to get down to the dealership and get all the needed parts. thanks guys. im so out of it.

about exhaust, well its more of what ever floats your boat..
as long as is a 3" system, you shouldnt have any problems.. also depending on your budget as well..

I have the Evo 9 turbo on my carÂ* :smitten: :smitten:Â* dont forget all of the OEM gaskets! and since it is all taken apart... did you do all the other maintainence? Timing Belt water pump etc.... ? that would be a good thing too!

Stealth exhaust from RRE is like the secret menu at In N Out. haha

update:

the turbo went on without a hitch (well aside from needing to get the the two studs to the exhaust manifold and the two from the 02 housing)
had to file out a bolt hole on the 02 housing so that i could get it on and hammer in the lower heat shield a bit to clear the radiator
went with the turbo back rre stealth exhaust
and needed new o rings for the injectors (had a bit of a gas leak)

total it took maybe 7 hours having really no idea what i needed to do... so i cant complain

need to wire up the afc and get it tuned... stay tuned for dyno numbers (keep your fingers cross for more than 263 whp so that i dont cry like last time)

mostly cause like last time when the car throws down crappy numbers, ill just end up taking everything off it
its much easier to unplug the afc then get it flashed back

hopefully it will just have been the p2, as ive suspected for so long.

its different now... before your shop support was all the way up north cali ..
now Scot g (which leaves just 5 minutes away from you) give n take, can flash and unflash and double flash with a burger on the side your car anytime he is available. you shouldnt have any problems when it comes to the method he is using. or you can flash along with the SAFC if you want as well. That way he can scale the injectors, add timing where needed, increase the rpms and elimate boost/fuel cut ... so many different options you have, unlike before.
Contact scot to see what his advice is on the entire deal... and than get a couple of dyno runs at your local place to find out what the results are...
