is there a cheaper way of getting a spare key for my transponder box thing for the remote start? i just found out that the keys from the dealer are like $35 and $85ish to code it. i find that pretty ghey.

You can code the key yourself. There are instructions in your owner's manual.

I just got a brand new key with the programming done from HB Mitsu for 79, great price. Â*All the other dealerships I went to really overpriced. Â*I believe I have seen some companies that have bypass modules for remote start alarms for cars such as our evos. Â*Sorry I couldnt find the website though

verano

^^ yeah i paid around $80.00 at HB Mitsu and that was 2005...i guess they have not changed the price yet :)

AaronI1

ROFL, there's only instructions for the key.

Terenus

Ok...I think this will also solve the problem with the JDM IX key remote. You have to get it programed by MUT-III or what I'm thinking is Evoscan. I'll look into that.

so in the transponder box thingy, does the key need to be cut? Â*or the programming is sufficient enough? Â*why do i need the two working keys? Â*sorry for the 20 questions.

The owner's manual is your friend. Read it. The ignition cut is sourced to your key, not the door lock/unlock fob.

key need to be cut... because you'd have to stick it into the ignition and turn it to ready state to program it
uncut keys wont turn.

any other aftermarket alarm that carries remote start?

nicklulu
03-12-2007, 05:31 PM
you can use a key tranponder copier specifically for auto alarms. Its copies the code from the key, so you dont need any at all for the alarm. Check Compustar's site, and DEI's. But im gonna tell you, it will be alomost the same price if more for that module.

I got mine done at a san diego shop.

I got mine done in SD so thats the only person i would know who will do it but it was also my dad's friend so he might have done it cuz its a friend. What you can try is have a bestbuy/circuity city employee come by after their shift and install it for you at your house.

nicklulu

the anti grid should have kicked in not inless if you were stepping on the brakes at the same time you were turning the key. So someone installed it for you on a manul tranny? sweet! I know because of liability issues most of installers wont do it. sweet.

AaronI1
05-01-2007, 03:28 PM
Yeah, they did take forever though. they never worked on a lancer or a evo i guess. but at the end, everything turned out sweet. nick, are you looking into a 2 way alarm/remote start?

AaronI1

the reason why the battery last that long is because the screen to the remote is full color lcd.Â* so there are animations to each command/function. and my alarm is for sure a way newer model than yours so i figure most remotes now are all rechargable like mine.
