i bought the car with 19kmiles and it now has 24k. it shifted fine but 3rd was a little notchy. i switched over to 2 uarts of redline mt90 and 1 quart of mtl and it shifted smother with most of the notchyness gone. today the 4th to 5th gear shift started to grind. it will only grind above 5k rpm and its really only a small slight grind but its there and just started today.
are the syncros tost for 5th. is there any chance i can get it warenteed with all the mods i have listed in my signature.

should i try BG Syncroshift 2? is that better than redline. so far i have been on the redline oil for 4k miles

does anyone recomend any dealers in so cal to get this warrantied. its basically stock except for intake, exhaust, mbc, and 272's. i can replace everything back to stock and try to get it warrantied. can i leave the exhaust on? and just put the stock boost solinoide back in and stock intake and cams in and i should be good correct??

SO wait a minute... Your complaining that 5th is grinding "a little" above 5k rpms? isn't that like a buck 20 or so?

I think he meant going from 4th to 5th over 5k rpms. so thats not even 80mph or something around there. I have the same problem. If its under warranty i wouldnt even mess around with putting different fluid in it. If it just slightly does it, it will get worse over time also.

If you want to try to warranty it, make sure you put the OEM fluids back in. Dealer doesn't like other fluids.

is it an MR edition?....sorry but if it isnt an MR i thought the top of 4th gear was 127mph...so 5k would be around 100mph or so?

well it grinds at about 4k rpm. so anything above 75-80mpg it will grind

I had the same problem last year actually. My 5th gear synchro was worn out I got it fix by the dealer through warranty. I didn't have to take off my parts, but then again I only had a catback exhaust and a bov.

Take it to a Evo performance shop, and see if they can help you. If they know what's wrong, it will give you a better idea on whether to take it to a dealership or not.

Performance shops aren't really in the business of being regular mechanics, but they know there crap!

Otherwise, take off your mods just incase. Cops scare me, but I think dealerships scare me just a little bit more!
