Hey,

I have a appt. @ TT on April 10th to get some things installed and tuned.Â* I was wondering what your predictions might beÂ*.

Mods to be installed:

AMS GT35RL Kit
AMS DP/CAT
Cosworth Cams
910cc Injectors
Walbro Fuel Pump
Greddy FMIC
UICP/LICP
Hallman MBC
ARP Headstuds

Thats about it.Â* Let me know what to expect.Â* I want to maybe go 25 psi max.

You will easily make 540whp/430wtq. You will have to stop there due to your fuel system and the fact you are running on your stock bottom end. Good times to come :)

P.S. Not in that way....

LOL. The key is that you not forget any of the important smaller details: BOV, spark plugs, no nails in your tires, etc. Don't come in with a full tank of 91, 1/4 tank should be fine. Yadda yadda yadda.

On race fuel :)

Of course on race fuel. On 91, expect a little over 400whp. Also, did you specify on your kit that you want an intake (maf pipe) that has a BOV return tube welded in? Many folks ordering their kits run AEMs that do not need the Diverter Valve to dump back into the intake.

I just noticed that you want to only go to 25psi. Why is that? If you want to go conservative, get a 100octane tune along with your 91 tune. On 100 octane, you can go to around 26psi without worries and should make in the ballpark of 500 to the wheels.

I answered your exhaust question completely in your other thread. You can relax on that account. Were you hoping to drop the car off in the AM and pick it up in the evening? Or are you ok with a two day deal? TT can get you a slim line fan no problem. Alfred might have to rob one off of one of his brand new turbo kits, but if he can't, one can be ordered and delivered in no more than an extra day. But yes, you absolutely need it.

Also, on 91, you will probably make 425 whp at around 22psi. Maybe better, maybe worse. Every car is different...

I talked to Paul and requested a one day install.Â* He said that would be fine.Â* I called him yesterday just to confirm the appt. and he said everything was good to go.Â* I'll be trying to get a slim fan from JMC motorsports this weekend, but good to know that I can get one from Alfred.Â* Thanks smoggy.Â* O0

P.S.

I live 150 miles away, so I really won't be going anywhere. Probably stick around the store until they finish.

Have you confirmed that all your intercooler piping and couplers will work with your new intercooler and with the location of your battery? Some uicp pipes require mini batteries... If I were you, I'd have a friend meet you there so you could take off and go somewhere. That is going to be a long day and it is always best to cover your bets if it takes longer than expected or if one of your parts doesn't work.

vortech_g35

For the intercooler, greddy sent me lower intercooler piping, but I also bought injen intercooler piping(upper and lower). I do believe for Injen you dont need a mini battery.Â*Worst comes, do you guys have mini battery kits? or should I go get one before I come.

You can if you have a built motor and a tune that allows it.

What about the Boobie Bar that's within walking distance. He can make new friends there and ensure that his parts are working.

Vortech,
Do you have a name? There are great places nearby (the Mission Inn in Riverside is the best and is only 5 miles away) but you should be fine. It is just a lot to get done in a day, so missing parts or other unforseen issues can cause delays. Looks like there is no problem with the slimline fan though. Looking forward to meeting you and getting/giving test drives to each other.

Cheers.

First, with your EBC, what is the max you can boost? Also, are you sure your MR bov is up to the job of holding 30+psi?

On 91 octane, you should see around 345 to 365 whp.

Good point Angela. It all depends what kind of race gas tune he wants. 30psi on race gas with an EvoGreen would be a max power tune, and not a road race tune. What are you looking for SidewaysEvo?

do you have a problem with drag racing evo's? Smog I am not looking to boost more then 30 pounds. Probably the max I want to boost is about 25. I am just curious on what kind of power I can get with this turbo.

I left at 7:00pm. The car was going on the dyno around 8:00pm. There was some issue with the brand of injectors Andrew brought with him, but I'm not sure what the final outcome was. It was a late night though...

Thank you Oscar (1of1000MR)for this update:

We were there until about 12:15am last night. We ended up making the injectors work and the car made 407 whp on 91 pump. The tq #'s were somewhere around 323. The graph was beautiful, but the car didn't do a race gas map.

The numbers are definitely appropriate with this setup. They probably seem low to you because a lot of people like to inflate expectations, in fact, I might be guilty of this myself, as I thought he might do 420whp, but he didn't. Still, 407whp is perfectly in-line with this combination of parts. BTW, I have no idea what boost he was running, but it was probably ~20 to 22psi.

Seems about normal for 91 oct. I believe u can expect the Evo IX turbo to make between 340-360 whp on 91 pump, FPGreen to make 360-375 whp, 30R to make 360-390whp and the 35R to make 395-410 whp on pump. Of course some underachievers and outliners might appear but from what I have witnessed over the past couple of years the big turbos huge horsepower advantage only manifests itself on racegas.

I didn't see new battery, new slim line fan, or new intake in the original post.Â* Were these late adds and if so, what for???Â* Maybe your update was just to say these items were removed for install and then reinstalled???

Also what type of Intake, licp, and uicp is the op running?

Hello everyone.

Sorry was bz with some errands.Â* I am still using the stock UICP, and using a TT LICP.Â* I am going back this Sat. to install some more stuff(gauges) because TT did such a great job.Â* I will do a write up shortly when I post up my graph.Â* Even though I was hoping for 415+awhp, I am happy with 407, as I make full boost at 4500 rpm.Â* The amazing thing is though the torque starts from 4500 rpms and doesnt stop till 7100 rpms.Â* We do think this is due to the MIVEC.

For 1wkdevo, I use ths stock battery, but they had to remove it to see if the UICP required I need a mini battery kit. Had the slim fan ordered due to the fact the AMS kit can't use the stock fan(i lost mine from AMS).Â*

Reminds me, I have to order a UICP and new throttle body.Â*Race map will come when I put a new throttle body and maybe some better injectors. Will post videos later as well, as I am tired.

Many thanks to Alfred/Jenn/Tom/Oscar/Raymond/ the whole TT team.Â* They were very professional and stayed until the car was done, as we ran into a short list of problemsÂ*.

Thanks for the info Vortech and congrats on the service and new power. You will love the race gas map for sure.

Also thanks for the clarification on the parts. You had to order a slim line fan because of the AMS kit, meaning it did require further out of pocket...that's too bad. Let us know which which uicp you go with and also can you clarify which intake you are using please?

Thanks

All I have to say is persistence paid off in the end. After leaving my main place of employment(10pmish) I stopped by to check out the situation. That injector issue was still being rectified and it did not look good. But, Alfred,Ray, and Oscar were able to rectify the fitment issue and get the car on the dyno. BTW The manufacturer of these injectors did not have the Voltage Values avaliable when Alfred called. In other words scaling these injectors was going to be a biatttch. However, Alfred remained persistent, despite workin for 13+ hours straight, he was able to dial in the injectors and make the car run great. Oscar and Ray remained at the shop late into the evening despite both having to get up early the next morning for school and other obligations. Is this great customer service? Yes! Will the team always be able to pull off and turn a mini-fiasco like this into a success story? No! This is just an example of what can and will go wrong when alot of work is being done on one car. Heck on the way down poor Vortech/Andrew toasted his stock Advan(nails suck) and had to get a two new tires balanced and I heard that did not go smooth either. Order was late etc etc. I am going to make a suggestion to all future customers. Have some cash ready for a rental car, just in case things don't go as smoothly as expected. Or bring a lil cash to stay the night at a local Hotel. ItÂ* happened to me back in early Evo 8 days when I switch out from my Works TR 300 package to my (tuner banned for life)390 hp package. I was 600 miles away and it sucked but I called off work and had to stay the night in a hotel. Was it the tuners fault? NO! My car had some issues related to the WORKs P2 flash and needed a part to fix it. So if you are coming down to get alot done with parts that are mismatched etc. don't be surprised if things arn't done on time due to unforseen compications and you have to make alternate accomadations. Alfred and crew pulled this one out of their azzes but maybe you wont be so lucky.
