Just drove to work and spotted a rolling smog check. I was on Garfield and turned onto Slauson and on the other side was a rolling smog machine equipped for 4wd/awd vehicles.

Anyone going around this area, be careful.

Im pretty sure they tow you or ticket you in our case they probably look for a cat and tow you if you dont have one, and then take it to a ref and write you up a bill of goods, they even check the octane level in your gas tank when they get hardcore.

octane level?

I'm guessing if it's over 91 they know you're mixing race gas or something of that sort and you must me mad illegallly modified at that point.

Bend over!!!!

no sorry didnt have time to take them, didnt want to stick around too long. there were 2 rollers, from the position they were lined up together as if they were for awd/4wd, maybe it could have been they were still getting ready and they could have had 2 2wd rollers. but oh well, im sure for "ricer" cars they'd prolly check for cats and other modifications and do a judgement based on visual.

FYI, if you get pulled over, you can always tell them that you can't be late to work or what have you. They will make an appointment for you to go to the ref.

OH man, I drive through Irvine all the time. What happens if a 2wd one rolls through and you have a stock hollowed cat? My exhaust is quiet, and I am lowered, so I wonder if any of you know what would happen.

they cant test you on the 2wd, my friend had that happen in his sti they said its ok just put in neutral and rev, but they couldnt get it to work or something so they let him drive off.
