My wife and I made the decision that it would be best for our two kids (3yrs and 9yrs old) if she would stay home with them. Overall, that decision cost us about $1600 a month (her after-tax salary minus daycare) of pure spending money. But we don't want other people raising our kids so the decision was simple and I wouldn't have it any other way.

What sucks though is that I can recall when I was making $50,000 grand a year as a teacher and was single and renting out a house with my buddies. I had over TWO THOUSAND a month spending money! Damn, those were the good ole days!!

Public school teacher's make from $38,000 to $75,000 depending on years of service and education level.
Assistant Principals make from $79,000 to $110,00 depending on years of service, type of school, and the particular district you work for. I'm a high school AP, which makes considerably more than an elementary AP. That is because I could literally fit 5 full-sized elementary schools on my campus. (600 elementary students versus 3500 at my school). Also, as we all know: big kids = big problems.
Principals make around 90,000 to 125,000

you don't need high school to go to college. just need the will, start with community college and work your way into the university. :-) That is what happened to me when I was tired of working as a busboy at 19 yrs old after dropping out at junior in high school.
