Just saw actual footage from the canon hv20 and it was amazing.Â* I was able to find this cam for $580.Â* Â*It is NATIVE 1080x 1920 HD and can shoot 24P.Â* Â*It is tape based but you can capture direct to pc if you have hdmi capture capability without HDM compression.

Here is a link to sample footage: http://gibopictures.com/video/NY_MAD_WORLD.mpg (274mb!)Â* RIGHT CLICK AND choose "save target as" to download. To watch it in full quality, use something like power dvd that supports HD with hardware options enabled...

I can't wait to shoot SOW in full 24p high def glory- Being able to do so for around $600 is crazy.Â*

I going to the POC STS events on June 2nd and 3rd and will post some links to footage...

Here's a good review of the canon and other HD options currently out. Good article with full res comparison shots etc:

Update:

I took a look at my footage with the canon and it isnt working out for in car. Footage is amazing for regular stuff but on the track it is just jerky and crap. I used both a mount on the harness bar and my 6 inch suction mount I had success with other cameras. It seems the tape transport is moving and messing things up. I am going to try the Panasonic sd1. This camera is hd, and records on sd cards with no moving parts. I saw a jdm review where they tested it in a car with great results.

I will post the new results soon...
