ANAHEIM – Authorities say the driver of a Mitsubishi Lancer fled the scene of an accident on foot after his or her vehicle flipped up to five times on the 91 freeway early this morning.
Before losing control of the vehicle, authorities said, the driver hit a car driven by Alice Taylor, a 50-year-old woman from Anaheim. Taylor was transported to Anaheim Memorial Medical Center for minor to moderate injuries, said California Highway Patrol officer Denise Quesada.
The driver of the Lancer was traveling at speeds in excess of 100 mph at about 1:02 a.m. on the westbound 91 freeway, Quesada said. The driver then lost control of the vehicle and rear-ended the Nissan Altima that Taylor was driving, Quesada said.
Both vehicles overturned and came to rest on their roofs near the State College Boulevard exit.
The person driving the Lancer managed to get out of the car and flee on foot, Quesada said.
The crash caused the westbound lanes of the freeway to be shut down for 20 minutes, Quesada said.
Authorities do not have a description on the driver of the Mitsubishi, Quesada said. Anyone who might have witnessed the crash is asked to call the CHP at 714-892-4426.
