just typical question, i have a beltronics 995 and i tested the escorts and v1's and theres really not much of a difference that i can tell. any opinions?

Naaa. Not much difference at all. They're all pretty much annoying as hell. lol
As for myself, I have a 50 dollar Cobra off the shelf at Target and wouldn't spend much more. Works just fine.

yea i mean mine wasnt cheap but all the high dollar ones work pretty much the same. the only advantage i see on the v1 is the directional part

right now I have the beltronics 995, but I am switching to either the Valentine 1, or Passport 9500i. I just went on a cruise, the car in front of me was video taping. My detector was hardly picking anything up. Where as, when I watched the vid, their detector was picking up everything. I believe they were using the Passport.

yea i heard the v1 picks up almost tooo much .. like ambulance and fire trucks and pretty much anything with lights on top of it. i dont want something tooo annoying but something that works

No, you can use either method, cigarette lighter or wire tap.

i have used both the V1 and the 9500 x50.Â* And although the passport x50 was less annoying in terms of beeps, i found the V1 gave me earlier warning compared to the X50.

^^ If you never used them then you have no idea how vital they can be, where other detectors just beep, this one tells you where the signals are coming from and the arrows, YES THE ARROWS, have saved me more than one. Beltronics, beep, beep , beep! :2funny:

I like it in Logic Mode. I just feel safe enough in Advanced Logic and All is just annoying since it picks up everything.

I use advanced logic for daily driving and all for places where the speed might be high, yet I know that no radar should otherwise be present.

I have had a V1 for almost 2 years and has saved me many of time mostly cause i live in the hills and they hide in lame corners and i always get early warning. i keep mine in advanced logic for streets to cut down on false warnings

I run the X50 and its fine. I had a cheap one and got pulled over by a trooper in Oklahoma doing 105. He was cool and gave me a warning.... Old soldiers FTW. I bought the X50 soon there after.

RX65 Pro - best detector I have EVER used - and I have had various cobras, whistlers, Valentine, this is by far the most sensitive and best filtering for false signals. I do miss the directionals - but gladly give that up for the additional half mile range....

ok i got another question... what all sets off lazer??? cuz i live on top of a hill and the closest neibor to me is about 1/4 mile away and ive been lazerd going up to my house when there is absolutley no one around

I think you answered your own question. Laser sets off laser. The Sheriffs Department in O.C. is using it now and I've seen the Highway Patrol starting to use it in the O.C. area (read 133/241 toll road). It sucks because you definitely get a lot less warning if at all.

depends on the model of detector too - I had a cheap one that went off on a lot of false signals. Laser is infrared - so any wavelength close will set off the less sophisticated models.

Laser does not bounce off things. If there is something in the way, the radar will not detect it. False laser's are mostly due to vehicles with laser cruise control. Lexus, Infiniti, and some domestic SUV's. I've also noticed false laser alarms when parked right in front of a neon light.

I've been lasered for real twice in two years. The first time was CHP on PCH just north of Laguna Beach. That was funny cause I actually saw him from 1/2 mile away, just before he pulled the trigger. The other time was in El Segundo, where a motorcycle cop was clocking in a 25mph zone. They don't mess around in El Segundo.

Here's my story about the arrows. Â*I was on the 101 near Calabassas going west in the left lane at around 80mph. Â*The V1 picked up a light Ka from behind so I let off to 70mph. Â*The Ka quickly picked up and I see a CHP cruiser sneaking up behind. Â*He can tell that I am on to him so he speeds past and heads for the exit ramp. Â*Now his Ka is in front of me, but the instance he went by a second Ka was coming from behind. Â*It stayed like this for about 5 minutes, and finally I see a CHP bike that was hiding behind a semi. Â*If not for the arrows and radar count I probably would have picked it back up when the cruiser exited.

I don't think there is such a thing as laser scatter. It either hits you or it doesn't.

Yeah, they aren't messin' around in Orange County either. Those freakin' motorcycle cops hide where you can't see them and they paint you at the last second. I've seen the CHP hiding under a bridge on the 133 several times now with their new laser toy. The guys stands on the passenger side of the car or bike and makes a portrait of you as you drive by. Smile!

Anyway, it's hard to pick up laser because if your detector is going off, you've likely been painted. I've also experienced some of the Infiniti FX's that run laser adaptive cruise control setting off my detector. Sucks.

depends on the age of the detectors - I think there is a new Ku band (?) - my RX65 Pro went off once on that freq and there was a bike cop a half mile up the road.... My detector is a month old...

The Irvine bike cops are using either Laser or Ka band radar, that's it.

and it was not laser huh? laser you can move I think... I don't know. All i know is that this Bel is very sensitive - and anything over K - Ka, and Ku - are alwas reading a cop. The road sign ones are always K. The 65 Pro also shows multiple threats - like a lower power Ka hiding up the street from a K road sign....
