It's pretty easy, I'm sure a lot of you know basically how to do this, I painted my wheels when I got my '06 WRX, I wanted that black spoke, silver rim look, but I went about it in a way in which you've probably never seen before...

-Cleaned rims with solvent, get any and all dirt and anything else that isn't a part of the wheel OFF!

-Taped off non-paint areas, tape the tire for sure, and any other part of the wheel that isn't going to be painted with some kind of painters tape, you can get this at home depot, or Lowe's

-Sand down clear coat and ruff up with abrasive pads, these pads that I used are similar to steel wool, but are not metal, kind of like the rough side of a dish washing sponge.Â* Paint store, or probably home depot

-use paint thinner to wet sand with abrasive pads

-clean with solvent again

-dry with hair dryer

-Use tac Cloth to wipe rim to get all dust and lint off before coats. (Paint store or home depot)

-Coat of primer (Bull Dog), wait 10 min. another coat of primer, wait 10 min...

-Coat of Black Glossy spray paint (high quality, forgot brand name)

-After 15 min. another coat of paint

-20 min. Clear coat for added gloss and protection (bull dog again)

-wait 45 min to an hour for drying. Weather must not be humid, temp. 65 to 75 degrees for best results.

an air conditioned room with no dust flyin around is best, and make sure you use a respirator unless you want to kill yourself.

oh yeah, and use industrial latex gloves unless you fancy your body absorbing harmful chemicals, and of course it makes your hands all dry and crummy.

Nothing lasts forever.Â* If you want your paint to last for the life of the car, I suggest you take them somewhere to have them professionally done.Â* (I would get new rims before I would do this though)Â* The only reason I did this to my rims is because they are cheaper stock rims, I would not do this to more expensive racing rims.

For some reason the pictures go down in quality when I put them on socalevo, so if you want to see the full 8 megapixel pictures, let me know....
