LIKE WITH ANY MODIFICATION THIS HAS OBVIOUSLY NOT BEEN CRASH TESTED. DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK.If you followed the post in this section on how to install the JDM rear it did not take much more to get the crash bar to work. you will need an angle grinder, crow bar, hammer, spray paint, 4X 5/16-3 1/2"long bolts, 4 bellville washers, 4X 1 1/4"-5/16" round rubber washers and loc-titeÂ* :idiot2:Â*Â* Â* Â*
After Follwing the steps up to removing the (CB=crash) bar this is what you do.
1.With CB removed use the angle grinder to cut and remove the two supports on the back of the CB.Â* (I would only cut the top of the mount and use a crow bar to pry back the lower side. it cuts down on the angle grinder cutting and is faster IMO).
http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1159/1228753989_057a33e16a_m.jpg Completely cut them off and clean up the area so it is smooth. You should have only the main part of the CB. The two, bolt access holes on the back of the CB should also be ground down as they protrude ever so slightly and if they are not flush it could cause unwanted noise. I HATE SQUEAKES AND RATTLES. After you have done this I suggest that you spray paint any bare metal with you choice of color for corrosion protection.
2.the next step is two use the 4 washers and 3 1/2 bolts to reinstall the CB feed the bolt through the bellville/cupped washer (this is what will center the bolt when it is tightened.Â* Â* Â* Â* Â* Â* Â* Â* Â* Â* Â* Â* Â* Â*
Â* Â* Â* Â* Â* Â* Â* Â* Â* Â* Â* Â* Â* Â* Â* Â* Â* Â* Â* Â* Â* Â*
I would also recommend using Locktite on the bolt threads before you install them. While supporting the CB in alingnment with Original bolt holes on the car start start to tighten down all four bolts then adjust the CB two further align the access holes and washers and tighten down the rest of the way.
Thats pretty much it the Bumper will be close but will fit perfectly. However you may need to adjust the plate lights a littte. Hope this helps PM me for more info if you DIY and get stuck
