i got a few quotes from places in Anaheim for $30/rim if they are already stripped, ready to go to powder.

If you search for "powder coating"+"" on google, youll find a whole bunch of places.

If you were down here i would recommend Drezzik Coatings in San Juan Capistrano. I had my last set of rims stripped, sand blasted, curb repaired, & coated for $75/rim.

^^^^when you say "stripped" do you mean of the car and of the tire????

the tire needs to be removed so the rim can be sandblasted.

yea, no tires...off the car.
they have to bake your rims in a oven for a few hours. that way the powder sticks completely to the rim.

and by 'stripped' i mean, chemically stripped. I.e. no paint, no clear coat, no tar, no oil from your hands, no brake dust...stripped. down to bare metal. the cleaner the metal. the better the coating.

they dont usually sandblast the rim. You really cannot really sandblast aluminum very well. Mine were sandblasted before because they had to remove the old powdercoating, and i wanted a 'hammered/matte' finish.

I cannot get a number for Drezak. Are they still around? Do you have a current number for them?
