One reason why Halo pwnz all other games:

In all three incarnations, it has delivered exactly as promised, providing an exciting gameplay in a believable universe with an engaging plot line all while additionally supplying an exhilarating multiplayer mode.

I cant think of another game series that has made it to three games that can say the same thing.

Plus the online game play experience is like no others. No other console online games can provide you the lag-less experience with all the actions going on.

Sure, make me look bad.

Final Fantasy and (barely) Mario are the ones that would qualify in Halo territory. The other two dont. The Final Fantasy series has had some serious failures though. Mario as well. The Halo franchise has yet to fail.

Metal Gear has some bad incarnations, particularly the first and third ones. Devil May Cry was never all that good to begin with. Resident evil went quickly downhill after the first one. All of the splinter cell games were multi-player only games. I dont think I played God of War... I wanna say I saw it, but it didn't make an impression.

i forgot legend of zelda and metroid in my list.

and its a matter of opinion on what type of game play you enjoy. i enjoyed the first and 3rd devil may cry. 2nd one was too easy.Â* residetn evil 2 was better than 1 and 3.Â* 4 is regarded as the best one in the series and a lot of people liked zero.Â* splinter cell wasnt multiplayer.Â* and god of war is still fun if you like that type of game.Â* halo 3 is the best selling game of all time but its far from being a top selling franchise.Â* its far behind mario and zelda in terms of total units sold as a franchise.

^lol...maybe is we were on 'Halo X' or 'Super Paper Halo smash brothers,' then there will have to be a few duds in a long line of games.

and...you also have to give Pokemon some credit. it was also multi player...and had a BUNCH of different spin-off games, and some lasting power as well...


...and IMO, all the resident evil games sucked big donkey balls.

pokemon is the closest to mario in terms of total units sold as a franchise. they are the only 2 over 100 million total.

^damn straight, i have red, blue, green, crystal, gold, silver, emerald...


...and i stopped there, cause its so damn repetitive.... all on emulator.

IMO, halo is a fad, i got over it after #1, when they changed all the physics, and weapon balance for #2...

It was nice to be able to take out your oponent from across the map, with a pistol and 3 headshots....

Resident Evil went downhill? It was the game of the year in 05. I still like GOW over H1,2,3.

I think the question now becomes, Where does Bungie go from here? it seems like Halo was the only game they were known for and now that they've completed the trilogy, everything else they produce will almost always come in 2nd and will never be good enough to beat out Halo.

I was actually dissappointed with how the story developed in Halo 3. to me it seemed there was a lot of gaps. But you still have to respect the game for its multiplayer option. it definately ranks up there with Half-life/Counterstrike, WoW, Final Fantasy.

GoW was good also, but it's a different kind of game.
