gamestop has the discontinued 20gb ps3 for 380 bucks. this is good for those who dont care about wifi and still want the emotion engine for ps2 compatibility. it is bad for those that want wifi and the memory card slots. the 40gb ps3 should be out soon at 400 but will not have ps2 compatibility. so if you want ps2 compatibility and dont care about wifi or the memory card slots this is a good deal. if you dont want ps2 compatibility you can wait for the 40gig one. the hd can be upgraded later if you need a bigger hd with a standard 2.5 inch sata hd that laptops use. this also qualifies for the 5 free blu-ray movie deal. some of the choices are horrible but hey they are still free.

damnit talk about a gay trade off, Why cant they just keep the emotion engine and still give us 40 gigs, wifi and memory card slots?

cuz sony has to screw you one way or another, i knew the 80 gig was gonna drop to 500 but i bought the 60 gig anyways for ps2 compatibility knowing i could upgrade the hd later if i felt like it. i didnt care about the free motostorm.

well, if they would have kept all the goodies in it, the price wouldnt drop...

I also got a ps3 60 gig just got the emotion engine, and just recently upgrade the HDD to 160 gig 72000rpm, i wish WD had a raptor version.. it probably wouldnt make a difference, but just nice to know you got a 10k spinning HDD in it.. lol

well the price dropped on the 20 gig and 60 gig they didnt take anything out. the 80 gig took out the emotion engine to make it cheaper thats why they bundled it with a game to justify the 600 price tag until they could drop it to 500. as for the 40 gig bein 400. as far as i know its the same hardware as the 80 gig but to justify the price drop they took out ps2 compatibility which is now run through software so i dont see how that works.

At least the 40GB gets the wifi and the HDD capacity I can upgrade later. Forgot to mention only 2 usb ports instead of 4 but oh well nothing like a usb hub can't fix.

like i explained it depends what is important to you wifi and a slightly bigger hd or ps2 support.Â* for 380 its pretty much at the same price point as the xbox 360 with the same features but you get a blu-ray player for 30 bucks.Â* now if i had to choose id go for the 360.Â* but at the price the 360 is 20gb and doesnt include wifi either and costs 350. but it doesnt matter anymore anyways it looksl ike they sold out. so 40gig is the only option at that price point.
