I purchased this Alpine iDA-X001 Head unit

http://www.alpine-usa.com/images/products/images/ida-x001.jpg

I was pleased for a month as I also purchased a remote and blue tooth adapter. All iPod controls are done through the head unit. I'd like to instead find a head unit that will allow me to attach the iPod through the auxiliary input jack and still allow me to control the iPod on the iPod itself. the connection should also charge the iPod. I don't want a head unit that has a regular aux input that utilizes the headphone jack.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I don't want to control the iPod through the head unit though. That's what I currently have. I want to just plug it in and still use the iPod, but not through the headphone jack.

you've been in my car before bro...

i control the ipod through the touch screen...

same as viewing the ipod and pushing little buttons... only you have a fancy screen to push buttons on...

I say buy a tape track player and get a tape to headphone adapter... then you can still controll the ipod with the ipod, and play your favorite bad company and foreigner tapes as well.

I know. I have the same functionality on my current setup. I don't want to control the iPod on the head unit any longer. I want the iPod in my lap instead and use the iPod itself instead of putting it in my glove box.

jesus, those suck!

jvc usually has the better aux-in head units from my observation.

take your pick really on the features you want...i just find that aux-in usually works better on the jvc units.
