thats too tough to pick just one because a lot of them were awesome in there respective time period. I would rank them by manufacturer as follows.

I did have a lot of great memories on my SNES as well ... FF3, etc ... but yeah thats really hard to pinpoint..

As for the Neo-Geo- shit was WAY expensive and over priced as well as its Turbo Graphic 16x (slaughterhouse was fricken awesome lol). Atari - whats so great about it besides being O.G.? The NES demolished it when it came out .... Dreamcast was "ok", 3D0 sucked ... and actually the gameboy isnt a bad choice except its puny graphics lol

i have every system mentioned in this thread... so in order

nes, ps2, dreamcast, neo geo.

ps3 will soon reign supreme though, the titles are really starting to make it a worthwhile purchase.
i guess its a biased view since i make games for sony.

real tough to pick just one. but in no particular order i would say the best consoles were:

SNES, Dreamcast, PSX, Genesis, NES, XB360, DS Lite.

1st) SNES
2nd) XBox360
3rd) PS1.

- SNES - First place because of the significant jump in quality, exhaustive game library, and consistently providing gamers with hit after hit.

- Xbox360 - It's got everything that the original Xbox created; multi-player functionality out of the box, great game libraries, great graphics. But just like the article said, the online content put it over the edge. Hands down, made that system fantastic.

- PS1 - Created the biggest jump in gameplay and quality from one generation to the next. Within 6 months of its release, it stood the gaming world on its head and took charge. Great games and a great interface (controller) that smashed all other systems of the day.
