Anyone know of a shop that can help me out with an issue im having? RRE put a test pipe on my car but they forgot to put the spacer on my 02 sensor to make the "service engine soon" light go away. My question is, does anyone know of a shop here in SD that can do that for me? I mean, i really dont want to drive all the way back to Road Race. I have the part just need to put it on.

Thanks

just buy one online and install it yourself, it would take more than like 20 mins total as long as your o2 isnt stuck on, im sure all places will not even touch your car seeing you have a test pipe, its a liability to them. gruppe s sells some, you can also try ebay

Buy what? I already have the spacer that connects to the 02 sensor and I tried to put that thing on but its way to long. When I connect the 02 sensor to the 02 spacer and then try to connect it to the mid pipe on my exhaust there’s not enough room for it to fit. I was just wondering if a shop around here that isn’t all strict about regulations would put it on.

your initial post states that they forgot to put the spacer on.Â* you might need a new bung welded on or maybe a electrical o2 sim.

Yeah, the 02 hits the under/body of the car. The 02 sensor is connected to the mid pipe of the exhaust not the test pipe. I bought the part they were suppose to put on, but i cannot get it to fit because the 02 sensor does hit the body of the car. My bad if i wasnt clear about it.

1. Welding
2. Find a Perrin O2 Simulator somewhere out there
3. Get a new Test pipe
4. Gut your Stock Cat
5. Don't worry about it :)

I've seen this a few times. The problem with the others was the mid pipe was turned the wrong way. Unbolt it, and turn it 180o (don't flip it front to back). it should be fine to install the 02 sim. Just an idea.

I spoke to the service manager at South Coast Mitsu at my last oil change and he said that most evo owners had their CEL activated.

Who cares, service doesn't. :)Â*

BTW: Your picture doesn't help either... hahahaÂ* You should try adding some pictures so people can see and stop expecting people to give you the answers you are looking for

You need to go back to RRE, take a little trip dude, go to a bar...

I am always happy to take a trip in my Evo, I don't care what it's for as long as I get to drive!

Domking

yeah, thats what I'm going to have to do. How long can i drive with that light on? Like, would anything happen if, say, i didn't go to get it fixed? I'm going to, just wanted to know the repercussions you know.

CEL won't affect you at all dude... That's why I said it doesn't matter other than the fact that if there is another reason besides the O2 sensor that will activate the CEL, you won't notice obviously...

I don't even notice my CEL anymore it's been on so long

Yep, the only thing that O2 sensor does it detect any problems with the catalytic converter so we don't destroy the world with smog.

That is the extent of it.Â*

LOL. I had a CEL in my DSM for like 4-6 months. Didn't worry about at all.

True, except if you are throwing other codes, you'll never know.

I went with option 2, but some other maker. Stupid test pipe also couldn't use the mechanical o2 fix since it would stick into the underbody of the car. Twisting the pipe moved it 180* but that put it in a south-west direction (lol) which means you take a dip or bump and you'll rip that sucker clean off!

get a hack saw a cut it down if possible.

silex
02-19-2008, 11:30 AM
Cut down what? It's a bung of set height, adapters of set height, and o2 sensor of set height. You cut any of that done and you're bound to cause more harm than good. Not to mention that you won't get of the CEL light with not enough sensor clearance from th exhaust flow.

Got it fixed with the bent adapter. Only thing is that i couldn't turn the exhaust enough so now it rattles while i'm driving. But the light went off. Thanks for the help Gear Grinder
