There's another dude that looks like you, except he has a CF hood with his CF lip. I talked to him when he pulled into Curry House, but he doesn't frequent SCE.

My setup is secret =X. It's nothing special, but I'm not going to say anything until I'm 110% on these wheels I want. Yeah, I'm down for a fender rolling day and I'll get you something for letting us use it :).

No, it looks exactly like your car, but has a JDM rear, CF Trunk with a wing on it I think.

Fronts and rears for me too! Rears have been done already to fit the 9.5in, but could use more massaging. Need to do the fronts soon to help me decide what size hub-centric spacers i can go with. The ones i have are crap.

I'm running 255mm tires on 9.5 wheels at +22 offset no problem. Future plans are to run 285 tires on the same 9.5in wheel at +15 offset with front fenders rolled. Doable?

on 285? maybe not on stock fenders. most i've seen on stock fenders was 275, but hey we won't know unless we try.

silex
02-05-2008, 01:19 AM
Some quick references has shown me that +15 is doable with 255's on stock fenders albeit I'm sure it's pretty close. I'm running 255/40 at +22 (8mm spacer) so the extra 7mm of horizontal space from fender to tire wall is probably there with stock fenders. The difference in tire size width between 255 and 285 is 30mm overall with which is 15mm on the side that matters. Since also the width won't fit right over the 9.5in wheel without "rolling" over to the sidewall, let's half that number again to 7.5mm. So basically, I would need to roll out the fenders a good 10mm in width just to be safe. Sounds doable to me, but I need someone else to verify that I'm not spewing nonsense!

Sounds doable to me. This guy is the first one to do it back when I got my evo in 2004 http://www.joe250.com/cars/evo8/widertires/evo8widertires.html

I'm running 265/35/18 without a roll. I'm down for to roll my fenders so I can go 275. I think 285 might be overkill for me though. Hey Joel did you get the eastwood fender roller?

91_gsx
02-05-2008, 03:17 AM
nah it's not east wood..found it on zilvia.net off the vendors on there. it's some japanese company that makes drift parts

TeKiZeRo
02-05-2008, 03:37 AM
How are the 265s treating you? I'm debating the 255/265 on the 9.5 since I don't want the stretched look.

silex
02-05-2008, 09:46 AM
Teki, my 255/40 Falkens (as you know I have ;) ) have a straight flush look. I hear people fit as big as 285 on 9.5in wheels. It's good to have as big of a tire as you can fit so 265 are preferrable, but they will "roll over the sidewall" so to speak. Might as well go as big as you can get, right?

Is it the Max one? Suppose to be made for lowered cars with coilovers with not much droop.

I think 265 is the best tire choice. The diameter of the 265/35/18 tire is the closest to stock tire diameter so it doesn't affect speedo/gearratio/etc. Also it seems all the JDM companies tend to stick with 265/35 on their cars including the cyber evo, hot version, both HKS street and CT230R race evo etc... Seems they know something we don't. I'm planning to autox so I wanna try bigger but me likey 265.

silex
02-05-2008, 11:34 AM
This is true. Anything bigger than 265 is not worth the loss of speed in straights due to the extra grip for track driving. AutoX could use that extra meat though as the speeds are not as high.

I am running 18x9.5 +27(15mm Spacers) with 265/35/18 Michelin PS2 Sports and I needed rolling in the front + some inner fender wall work. The back needs to be rolled soon as I noticed @ 65+mph when I hit a big dip, the rear touches my fenders.

You also have 40 profile so there's going to be less of that stretched look. I am going to be running 35 profile so it's going to be more definite.

Probably the same as what you did to your front fenders.

^ HAHHA! I think TekiZero was right. It was the same thing I did to my fenders! I banged the hell out of this protruding piece of metal under the fender liner at the rear of the front wheel well until my tires didn't rub at full lock!

Hey Joel I just remembered I used a Max fender roller before on a S14. It works great but after someone borrowed it, it got messed up. Like the roller part isn't delrin or is a weaker form unless they fixed it. Just a heads up.

02-07-2008, 01:07 AM
sounds good mark...we'll soon find out. after i do mine i'll work on my bro's s13 and buddy's mr2 to see how it holds up. other s14 guys said they had no problem with it so far.

ok so i finished the fender roll....the rear's were a breeze to do, but the fronts are difficult and didn't have much angle to use up front.

the fronts were hard for me to roll I couldn't get enough pressure to get entire fender to bend all the way through. I've been trying to look for others that roll the front fenders, but those that have are running -2 degrees or more of camber.

I need to get my rears rolled, I think I am rubbing a little bit.

silex
02-18-2008, 12:25 AM
Teki, that initial drive we took to Shell to fill up on 5gal of gas, I definitely was rubbing somewhere in the front and possibly in the back. Thought my current setup would have cured all those woes, but I guess not. On a side note, the SAFC2 is removed and that fixed my driving problem!

TeKiZeRo
02-18-2008, 12:38 AM
Wow, that's good to hear! I think it sounded like you were rubbing on full lock during the u-turn.

silex
02-18-2008, 01:18 AM
Yeah that shouldn't have happened since I banged the hell out of fender walls. Looks like I have to check again. Just so much to do and in so little time!

For sure. I still have yet to rip out the defunct cabling from my car after the break-in one year ago nearly to the the day. What a waste. Almost a week after I got my in-car computer working adequately, my car gets broken into and my audio components are all stolen.

Actually with the specs on the P45R it streches the tire a bit. The left is the P45R 18x9.5 +35 with nitto neogen 245/40/18, Right is the Super Advan Racing Ver.2 18x8.5 +27 with Potenza 245/40/18 :

They look really awesome on your ride man. I have always wanted them even before i bought the Evo; back about 8 years ago when I was in the market for an RX-7 I heard about them. If I can run into a set for a decent price, I most certainly will pick up a set. Contingent on the sale of my P45R's of course :P

Ok, so what's the deal with fender rolling? I'm in SD, and may need this soon. I borrowed the nice eastwood one from Jeffery at 500whp like 2 yrs ago but didn't roll them at the time.. Now I might need it for my new rims. Who in SD has one?? A fender rolling meet would be cool - heat guns/beer/fender rolling.. sounds like a party!! :2funny: If this is for real, let me know..
