Rear Deck Speakers max. depth?

Does anyone know what the maximum depth is for an aftermarket rear deck Speaker? It looks like those rods might hit if the speaker is too deep.

I am contemplating some 6.5 or even 8 inch subs mounted on the rear desk free air to avoid the added weight and space that a sub box takes up.
