Yeah, it is a pretty crappy system. When the thread that you posted in gets deleted, so does the number of posts that you posted. If you post a lot in the FS section, you won't ever get any stars. There should be a different way to manage it that can wipe the system from the thread but not remove the post count, sorta like FTP Sites. You wipe the file/folder instead of deleting so the uploader can still have his credits.
