I been talking to the owner since around March and he said over the weekend he will be opening tomorrow. If you plan on going out might want to call first to make sure he is truly open. I bought and scaled some 1000cc injectors to prep for this. Tomorrow I'm heading down and I am going to start with a 50-50 mix as my tank is half full of 91 right now. By the weekend I should have enough time tweaking and taking it slowly to really crank the boost and up the timing to take advantage of the higher octane rating of E85. Can't wait been a long time coming

Here is the address.... It's off of Palomar Airport road near El Camino Real for those that are local.
Bressi Ranch Shell (via Pearson Fuels)

Are you doing a 50/50 mix without tune? You do know that E85 requires a lot more fuel to burn vs regular gasoline, so regular scaling doesn't work. Just want to make sure you don't end up messing up your car. GL

Sick! Let the E85 tuning begin! I am about 8 miles away from this pump!

I might need to get a double pumper and a fuel rail prior to though...

Yes,
I'm fully aware that 50/50 wil lrequire about 15% more fuel and I wil lbe watching my trims and A/F like a hawk

Thanks I appreciate the concern .

LOL yeah Alan even with my mostly stock car i figure around 150-165 miles per tank . Still the dude said arounfd $3.60 a gallon which last time i checked is cheaper than VP109 or C16. This is right on my way to work so no biggie. I work in Carlsbad about 2 miles from the station.

I knew you would be interested. I told you guys about this place at the Dyno Day. still a little bummed about how rich my map was on your guys Dyno but figured it out things are better now

Once you use E85, you won't ever want to go back to pump gas! Good luck!

That is why I purchased the 30mpg Daily Driver....My Evo is now officially a weekend warrior!

What's the point of running e85, when it is cheaper and better in performance than 91oct? Just run that shit straight up bro.

Kinda confusing here but...but yes, E85 is cheaper and better performing than 91 oct....He said eventually he is going to run straight E85..he did a 50/50 since he had half a tank of gas at the time..

If it was me, and was at the gas station, I would have probably done the same...

i'd suggest filling up some gas canisters with E85 and bring it home so you can play with the toone and just in case the tune is off a tad and the engine won't start...

I was told that there will be a slight possibility that there will be a gas station that will be serving e85 at the pump @ the rosemead wal-mart. I will be filling up every week if it happens.

So the store opened last night but i just now made it during my lunch hour at work. Added 11.7 gallons of E85 and adjusted my global injector scaling size from 914 to 663 (approx. 30% more fuel) While i still need to wait for trims to adjust after the drive cycles I did perform some logging while peddling it and the AFR's are spot on so far 14.7 at cruise and low 11's at WOT (same as pump) for the short bursts i tested with. I am going to give it a few days of cruising and then slowly add boost and timing to see how it all shakes out.

Oh yeah their prices for premium were high at like $4.77 compared to $4.65 near my house but the E85 was $3.69 MY MPG was around 15-16 on pump (can't stay out of boost ;) ) so it will be interesting to see how much mpg i lose going to E85 I really am mainly doing this for performance reasons and because I can :coolsmiley:

Alan,

Let us know how it goes when you go out there and get you some

oldevodude
06-11-2008, 08:59 PM
Went cruising and my trims are solid at 0,-2.5 and -2.5 . Now that I know my fuel trims and AFR's are safe I will try to turn up the boost first then mess with fueling and timing if raised boost levels cause a need for a change,If not I will try and see if I can add timing or maybe lean out my current conservative fuel mapping (high 10's at redline and low 11's throughout RPM range.

This is awesome! Aside from 1,000 CC injectors, what else do we need to safely run E-85?

I'd like to do this!

oldevodude
06-14-2008, 01:51 AM
bigger fuel pump and source for e85 along with careful tuning or a good tuner and tune

AlkyEVO
06-14-2008, 01:02 PM
So 1,000 CC injectors, bigger fuel pump (which one?), and a good tuner?

That's it?

Terenus
06-14-2008, 01:06 PM
Most use Walboro fuel pump, it's reliable and cheap enough to replace if anything.

Tuners:

SD - Reese Tuning
LA - RRE and MFQ
Inland Empire - Tuning Technologies

AlkyEVO

So the single walbro is enough?

TeKiZeRo
06-14-2008, 11:17 PM
Yes.

I think Terenus is running 30 psi on 720cc injectors.

Skiracer

Single should be sufficient on stock turbo. If you go biggie turbo, that's a different story. Best to check with your toonah to see what is best for your situation.

single is more than enough, unless you want to compete with ams's 1000 hp evo...

skylinefolife
08-24-2008, 05:30 PM
really?

do u think it'll still be cheaper than gas if regular gas ever hits $2.20 again? im just kinda curious as to see how competitive e85 will be... so many lobbyists are against it -__-

TeKiZeRo
08-24-2008, 09:28 PM
I think last time it was at $3.69, so it went down quite a 'bit. I don't think gas will ever hit $2.20 again :(. I don't even remember when it was that cheap lol.

What I'm trying to say is that e85 is usually around 20-40 cents cheaper than gas/gallon. Right? So, if gas continues to drop, will that small gap still be there? The price difference :)

08-27-2008, 06:00 PM
