is it just me or what? It seems like my evo x isnt as fast as my evo 8. everything is stock on both car, but the x doesnt seem to have that pull when you floor the gas pedal like the 8 does? Just wondering for all of those that has driven the 8, 9, and x. keep in mind that all of it is stock and i know that the x is heavier than the 8.

dude, you're not trippen. I came from a fairly stock IX and my X felt like complete shit power wise. MY IX felt really fast compared to my stock X. even with factory reflashes, still was slow. you need to mod it and tune it bro. it works wonders.

You're fine, X's are just slow stock

Get some mods and it'll pick up quick

yeah the X feels slower because it is made for a more wide range of driver so they made it more comfortable which means it feels slower.

the thing about it is that they take well to mods so mod that thing and you will love it.

The X also has a more linear powerband compared to the viii/ix's, you won't feel that kick from the turbo on the X's. The viii/ix's are lighter and probably a bit faster stock though.

Of course, in terms of all out speed and acceleration, the X does feel slower. I think its a given for several of the reasons already stated. The power on the X is much more linear. I've seen enough dyno graphs of the X that show just how linear the powerband is compared to the older Evos. So this will give the illusion that the X is weaker, but in actuality, I think its actually making smoother power.

ANd remember this. The Evo X is much easier to drive around town compared to the older Evos. You can accelerate smoothly without having to go crazy with revs. There is more torque down low which allows X drivers to lug around in higher gears around town. It's just a smoother operating Evo compared to the VIII or IX.

+1

there was this one article from sport compact car magazine featuring vishnu's evo. i read it awhile back, but from what i can remember, it was basically a completely stock X with a piggy back, the numbers were pretty impressive. the exact figures don't come to mind, but i remember thinking to myself, "wow this is basically what the IX's get with a stage 1 plus a tune"

Yeah, my friend has a X and after opening up his exhaust and a tweaking a couple things here and there it feels pretty quick. My bf has a IX with quite a few mods and when comparing the two they seem pretty close... ;)

And yeah, aren't there a lot of articles saying that the X takes real well to basic mods? I think it just feels slower because it's a smoother ride O0

a little off topic, but I'm contemplating getting the X. Does anyone know of any issues I should worry about for this first iteration, that maybe might make me want to wait for '09's? I know a while back someone had their clutch break because it is made of out plastic, not sure what the end result of that was. Anything else of that sort of nature?

drop in the AEM intake and I guarentee you will see a difference. I got mine at Road Race. 30whp. I am getting exhaust and a tune and Mike is telling me 355whp. So spend a few extra bucks and make your X a real evo

Clutch isn't made out of plastic.

yea and that 5 more hp than the IX isn't going to help. But take it in the twists and turns and the x is a lil bit superior than the old one. Unless you suck at driving.
