Today....i went into TT for a couple of part installs and tune. I've heard great things about them but what I experienced was utterly amazing. The best customer service I've ever experienced.
Alfred, Jenn...and all the staff and crew at TT...THANK YOU GUYS SO MUCH!

To make a long story short...I came in with usual mods....
intake, dp, exh, STOCK CAT, ets IC and piping, fuel pump and EBC. For some reason the car was running oddly rich and put down a baseline of 230whp....

a few tweeks here and there...alfred was able to extract a final pass of
318 whp and 304 wtq.

ITS MAGIC!

I am very happy with the experience and will recommend them to anyone who needs their evo worked on.

Any details on why the car put down 230whp on a Dynojet? Cuz 318 is pretty much standard for a IX with those mods..........

he has a stock cat... add a test pipe or a rally cat and it should be in the 330whp range...

Goku....ok so that will still bring him into average numbers. Im not saying that his car is not strong or anything, your missing the point, im wondering why it would put down 230 on a DJ.

Sounds like no boost! lol or a major boost leak. Not having a tune on a stock car would not cause this. So was the baseline done with the parts installed? Or completly stock?

the baseline # does seem a little low for an evo ix on a dynojet...

Baseline was done with parts were installed and like I mentioned before, low boost.Â* There was no boost leaks on this car as I inspected it before it hit the dyno.

He had an ETS intake which was messin with his idle, which means there's a good chance it threw off the fuel trims.

In the end, it made great power with a stock cat. Customer is happy.

I think you guys are all taking me wrong. Im glad the customer is happy and all and that his car made the usual power for a IX with those bolt-ons, I was just shocked to see it put down 230whp on a DJ thats all. Running rich would cause knock which would pull timing so I can see some power loss from there, but not that much. But whatever i guess, glad the OP is happy with the magical tune.

Why would the car rich. if you add exhaust,dp, Ic piping, intake?

shouldn't it burn leaner cause there's more air coming through ?

lol, i guess you missed something here didnt you? lol. Something was wrong with the car mechanically and thats why it put out 230whp. So in reality it didnt gain 88whp, lol. The 230whp was not a before number, as Oscar confirmed it recorded 230 after the parts were put on, so something went wrong there.

Just to confirm, there was/is nothing wrong with the car mechanically. The problem was resolved through tuning. An aftermarket intake can throw off fuel trims.Â* O0

318whp with stock cat and no cams is good IMO.

LiquidLife
08-19-2008, 01:49 PM
cams should get around 350? (without cat)

1WkdEvo
08-19-2008, 01:58 PM
I got 318/319 IIRC with similar mods in similar heat without cams. Tq seems low, but whp looks dead on for mods

what was the temp outside, I didn't see that?

1WkdEvo
08-19-2008, 05:47 PM
It was August 13 and the temp in Colton on that day was a high of 97 degrees. Add 5-10% in the shop and I would guess it was 100-107% there abouts.

hey guys..thanks for chiming into the thread for everyones feed back.
i was mostly just blown away from the way the car peformed after the tune. Given that something was wrong with the initial map as the baseline only put down 230. My goals were just to try and break 300 and being at 318 was just awesome.
I have plans of putting together another round of parts and tune.

set of cams - cosworth m2's are what i'm thinking
o2 housing - recommendations?
HFC
headstuds
injectors - if necessary

I hope to achieve 350whp at this point. I would love to hear anyones advice or recommendations on part combos?
Thanks guys!

350 will be a bit of a stretch in this heat without a test pipe, but it is not outside the realm of possibility

LiquidLife
08-24-2008, 10:56 AM
yeah get rid of the cat, just get whatever o2 housing TTech recommends, from what I understand they are all of the same design

Yeah... 350 will be a bit of a stretch... Â*I am putting down 345 to the wheels with Cat-back, MBC, drop in filter, LIP, Walbaro fuel pump, injectors, and Cosworth Cams.... Â* Â*I would have probably broke the 350 mark but,... I was instructed by Alfred that I would need an O2 housing and an Intake....to break that... Â*I believe the temp outside that day was over 100 degrees... Â*

Glad your happy with the tune... Â*TT ROCKS!!
