I'm routing stainless feed and return lines from the fuel rail and regulator to a surge tank in my trunk and was wondering if anyone had any experience doing it. Right now I'm planing on using zip ties to ride the stock lines all the way to the gas tank, but that only gets me about 75% of the way. I could go straight back, but it just looks kinda awkward to me. I can also go over by the wheel well but it looks like it could get pretty messy. Anyway, if you have a surge tank or fuel cell in your trunk, I'd love to see pictures of how you routed the lines. Or if you have any creative ideas, I'm listening. Thanks!

Here's a picture of what I'm working with. I welded AN bungs on the base plate so the lines going to the trunk will never enter the car (they will just attach to the bungs sticking out of the bottom of the base plate underneath the trunk).

You want to talk to GT40 or just give RRE a call.

Here are some pics of the old setup:

With the pics you can see that I basically ran a full braided line from the rail to the fuel pump and search tank. Hope these help.

Here is the layout:Â* http://www.socalevo.net/gallery/albums/uploads/gt40/normal_fuel_system_design_1.jpg

I would definitely enclose all fuel pumps filters etc.Â* braided lines leech small amounts of vapor so fuel smell is part of the deal if you use those too.

I re-read your post and the words ZIP TIE jumped out at me.Â* Think of 2 things:

1.Â* braided steel lines are basically a spiral saw that will cut ANYTHING they touch.

2.Â* fuel systems are basically a BOMB.Â*

Route your fuel lines with insulated brackets screwed into the car securely and mount everything from the perspective of will it survive 80 or so G's that could be encountered during a situation where you crash/roll your car.Â* If the answer is unclear, understand that you are putting your life and others possibly in danger.

Thanks for the pictures.Â* Nice setup. Okay, so you just ran the lines inside your car. I'm gonna try to keep as much of the lines outside as possible, but good point with the zip ties. I honestly think, though, that if you use enough, and make them tight enough, it would be fine. But you're right - it's not the best idea to take chances when building a fuel system. I think I'll try to find some brackets today. That way I can route the lines exactly how I want too. Thanks a lot for the response.
