About 2 weeks ago, my left big toe starting going numb. Got checked by doctor, no stroke(too young), got blood test, saw podiatrist. Doctor told me that something is putting pressure on just my toe and it could possibly be the clutch on my car. He suggested getting a bigger clutch pedal to distribute the pressure through my foot. He also said get an automatic????. I ride the clutch a lot since I am in traffic(daily driver for 70 plus miles) and and am possibly considering trading in the car or maybe getting a beater automatic. Are there any other solutions to my problem? Just wanted to know if anyone else went through this as well. Thanks in advance.

LoL. That was my first thought but since my Evo is paid off and I'm trying to buy a condo/house, I don't really want anymore car payments.

i never thought the evo clutch was that heavy until i tried to drive my friend's scion tC. it seriously felt like the pedal was connected to nothing it was so damn light. too light IMO. i wonder is there even such a thing as a "softer" clutch for evos?

adjust your clutch pedal? its more likely a fked up install. What kind of clutch are you running?

Stock clutch with 45K miles on it. I just switched to daily driving the evo about 4 months ago. I had a beater celica before.

maybe try hitting the clutch with the ball of your foot instead of using your toe?

...ive never tried using my toe before, i imagine it could cause pain after a while

adjust your seating position. i find when i sit farther away i use the tip of my toes more. it allows me to release the clutch and transition from gear to gear much easier than if i'm sitting closer. when i do sit closer i tend to use the mid section of my foot thus my response time isn't as great, but it might help take the stress off of your toe.

if you're having this issue with the stock clutch, you're in for a world of trouble if/when you need new ones if you ever buy anything but oem-specs.

You're absolutely serious about that? I think theres more to this than toe against clutch story.....too bad you're blaming it on the Evo. :idiot2:

2 things... shoes and position of your seat...

I mainly have knee cramps whe im in traffic, so i just adjust my seat a lil farther. When you have your seat farther you tend to use your toe alot, its like your tippy toeing on the clutch.

Do you have skater shoes?? I find them to be very comfortable since they are wide.

stop being a weenie... you drive an Evo... if you want a soft clutch, go get a VW. Worlds softer clutch i swear. you can blow on it to push it down.

I changed my seat position and changed to a shoe with a a stronger foot support and it appears to be fixing my problem.Â* I must have sat in traffic too long with my toe pressing the clutch.Â* I am now shifting with the ball of my foot and it appears to be working.Â* Thanks for the advice.

Theres your problem, once youre in traffic just let go off the clutch and chill until youre ready to go into gear, theres no need to keep it pressed for that long.

I felt a great difference coming from a Mustang. The Lancer Evolution has a much softer pedal. The Mustang felt pretty ackward at times. Looks like the advice given is working for you.
