So I used to have an Evo for several years.. then I sold it because I needed cash.. now I have cash again and am ready to buy. EvoX is on top of my list of cars.. someone give me that extra nudge I need to dive in and buy an X..

I miss the Evo. Kinda concerned I'll be let down on the X because my old Evo had 350HP and various light suspension mods..

I've not sat nor driven in the X yet, haven't even seen the interior of one either.

its ok the X suspension will out perform a IX...

but with a few power mods and a tune you can be back at 350HP easy

or buy an IX...

^^ pretty much nailed that shit...

probably cost you a littlle less cash getting that amount of power out of the X too...

but if you think about it... you can still cop a IX for cheaper than you can a X... so wit the saved money, that can help go to some goodies on the IX...

either way, you obviously want one again... unfinished business huh? haha jump back into the club!!

the 0% financing I'm sure I qualify for is very tempting..

I had an 8 before, GSR.. fun car, I should do a test drive.

Not sure what other cars to consider.. nothing excites me too much other than the X and the STI (mainly because I have a thing for hatchbacks)

Would like to stay under $40k too, G37, IS350, 3 Series, those are the other options, I have lots to research and lots to test drive aswell, Audi S5 looks sexy to me too

and If I got the X I think I would take a different route to mods, coilovers and wheels first, power mods later.

I did power mods before, but it was totally the suspension mods (sway bar, bushings, alignment) that by far brought the most fun for the buck. I didn't have coilovers before.

You should really consider a X. Â*RRE got about 380 to the wheels with Cosworth cams and minor bolt ons. Â*A couple suspension components would also be beneficial. Â*I have heard of Xs with bushings and sway bars taking on 8/9's with full coilovers and aggressive spring rates.

No S5 dude. No X, no offense to anybody. Anytime you put chrome around the gauges of any damn car I`m gonna have to say no hehehehe. Just dont love the X as much as I do the 9 or 8.

Bottom line, but what do I know I`m just not so newbie, 8 or 9 dude.

I don't get why since I own an Evo, I therefore have the duty to convince someone to buy one.
Personally, I'd rather not have everybody and their brother drive the same car as me.
Why anyone would want the internet to decide which car they drive, escapes me as well.

The only reason why i`m saying no S5 is because I traded my 05 M3 for my Evo.
Good luck fixing up that S5, unless your balling out of your mind dude.
Oh yeah hehehe I forgot dont get the Evo they are crappy Japanese cars hehehehehe.

I paid over $2000 for my Gruppe M exhaust on the M3, I can only imagine how much it would be for a S5. Another example: AEM cold air for a M3 on ebay, close to $700. Dont really know what the stuff goes for now.

Anyways If you wanna roll stock in a S5 all the time then have fun man. I couldnt do it.

Whichever way you decide, good luck, have fun and be smart out there.

Hey dude I met you at a SRT trackday at Streets of Willow back in 2004 or 2005 I think. We both had WW VIIIs.

I am on my 3rd EVO (1 VIII & 2 IX RS). I drove the X and liked the upgraded feel of the car. The AYC will trip you out. Sam at South Coast made the X do some 45 MPH 90 degree turns. I slammed my head on the side glass. Then I test drove a used IX RS and jumped on it. Go drive a X at South Coast. You might get smashed. I tested one before all of these sweet ass deals that are available today and that was just 3 months ago so I was more smash proof. I'll stay away from South Coast nowa days.

I too give props to the power gains of the X after bolt ons and a tune. The IX will cost more $ to get similar gains.

how do any of those cars fall "under" $40k? your only hope of those choices and that budget is a base bimmer 3-series.

honestly...

wait until you see 0%APR for the evo X.... in the mean time take a look at audi.. and even... bmw 335i 07 (fully loaded with low miles...) will cost the same as a new evo X.... you have a lot of things to look at.

Hey I remember you too! That was alot of fun, only had 2 track days under my belt and lots of dumb mountaineering. One of the things I would like to get back into, and more often (track days).

Thanks for everyones input, the S5, I could do, but at 50k+ it'd be a dumb but do-able car for me. Yeah, Modding the car would be extremely expensive.. still an option but much less likely, gotta do a test drive soon.

I'll probably head down to SCM this sunday or saturday for a test drive along with those other cars.

Wasn't aware that the X could do those similar power numbers on even less parts than the 8/9, good to know! But now another factor comes into place, the 09 X's and then the Premium GSR.. also read that those got a power boost, but if I wait I'm not sure the 0% will still be available.

The X is sick and the AYC definitely feels/is crazy.Â* I thought about trading my car in for X MR at one point but I'm too attached to it.Â* People are always talking about the X making such crazy numbers but I think it's all clearly explained on the spec sheet of the 4B11.Â* It has slightly higher compression ratio, Mivec on the intake and exhaust cams, and a better flowing head and exhaust from the factory.Â* Obviously it's going to make a little more power.Â* But don't forgot stock for stock the X is always carrying an extra 300lbs or so compared to a VIII or IX.

Handling on the X is pretty nice. That with the nicer interior would be hard for me to pass up if i were buying today. Don't get me wrong, I love my IX, but the X is growing on me.

If your price range is under 40k then look at the BMW 135i, sweet simple RWD in a nice package. Better than an E46 M3 if you ask me.

Dude that engine is unreal ^ a chip and youre at 390 crank and smoking M3's all day at least I was and best of all in an AUTOMATIC thats right. But for racing is what im here for and money and german cars didnt go well with my wallet! So I ditched the 335 but miss that torque n HP
