well I start the evo up in the morning before i go to work..and I'm doing a walk around and notice a weird "humming" noise coming from the rear..so i go under, and i check the exhaust to see if it was a leak..nope..not from the exhaust..then i notice it coming from the pumpkin..does anyone know what could be wrong??? I'm at 21k and i haven't had the chance to swap fluids..would this be a problem?? all advice would be appreciatedÂ*

what's wrong with some folks and keeping car up with maintenance ... tsk tsk...
It could be from something simple, to something a bit more complicated..
Quick question, have you changed anything recently??
Also get your fluids change, Jeez! XD

Does anyone EVER read the owners manual that came with the car? Damn people never maintenance their cars then wonder why they break down!

To the OP:
Open your glove box, there is a small book in a plastic case...flip to the index...look for "Scheduled Maintenance" and you will find when and at what mileage your fluids need to be changed. Factory recommended is 15K II RC.

Go change ALL your fluids ASAP.

The noise is from the gear in the diff wearing out. Let me guess, you have been driving the vehicle forward for 21k miles? If you even out the wear on the gear the noise should go away. You need to drive in reverse for about 20k miles and you will be just fine. If that doesn't work nothing will. Good luck.
