Has anyone tried the new GEMS Plug and Play ECU in an EVo X?

It appears to be your basic stand alone that plugs right in. I'm not sure if it works on US cars or not.

GEMS and AEM share technology and firmware devolopment. GEMS does things one at a time with love and AEM takes the mass produstion route with the same basic stuff.

AEM figgered out the CAN stuff with the Subaru WRX EMS and is working on the EVO X now. They were last working on getting the ECU connectors for a reasonable price. I would wait fo rthe AEM version. It will be cheaper and have better local support.

Thanks for the response Mike. I know you can tune anything but it makes sense to get something that has more support locally.....as long as you think it'll have the same functions etc (eg. proper bang bang).

Tanner Foust uses a GEMS ecu on his Evo X in Rally America. You should see no problems.

Tanner Foust also has a bajillion dollars and a huge truck full of parts that they give him. There are a few things that supports matters more for and suspension and electronics are two of them.

Who's "they"...Gems or John Buffum?Â* neither of which give tanner trucks full of parts!Â* John runs a very simple and low budget team compared to the factory Subaru team.

Just because someone is running in Rally America with a bit of support, it doesn't mean they have money for one off R&Ds.
For these teams a reliable and good ECU is just as much of a concern as it is for everyone else. For everyone, a blown motor is money and, more importantly, time lost.

Them as in sponsors not either company in particular...
